Description of the walk

Access from the Burnhaupt roundabout via the Doller valley (Masevaux) and the D466. After the last bend on the way out of Oberbruck, just before crossing the cycle path, the small car park is on the left, in front of the football pitch and next to the fire station.

Yellow ring markings, Senkel circuit

(S/E). Set off along the cycle path, turning left alongside the football pitch, towards Wegscheid and Masevaux. Further on, after the tennis court and crossing a road, cross the Seebach stream. The cycle path runs close to the road.

(1) Cross the road immediately at the pedestrian crossing and follow it to the right for about a hundred metres via a small path to a picnic table. Climb the path that starts on the left before the wooden barrier, following the markings. This path zigzags upwards and passes close to some rocks. You will reach the "viewpoint" sign.

(2) Don't miss a short detour to the left for a lovely view of Oberbruck.

(3) Return to the sign.

(2) Continue along the circuit by turning left and shortly afterwards, take the path on the left that leads to the top of the cemetery. Follow Rue de Buhl on the right for about 200 metres (marked with a yellow ring and blue triangle).

(4) Leave the road as it begins to curve and take the path that climbs to the right; this climb is short. Continue following the same markings. The path narrows, becomes rocky and heads to the right until it crosses a stream at a ford; after that, it widens and heads back to the left.

(5) Be careful before leaving the forest and finding yourself on a grassy path enclosed on both sides (orchards and fields) leading to the hamlet of Riedelsbourg. Turn left and follow the path to the left, which descends rapidly. Join a small road and cross the bridge over the Seebach on the right. When you reach the D14b3 road, follow it downhill to the left for about 50 metres.

(6) Take the concrete farm track that climbs to the right (no entry). Pass by the old Niederbruck water reservoir. Beautiful view of the valley on the left. At the next crossroads, there is a lovely view of Oberbruck and Kirchberg, and a car park just after.

(7) At the next crossroads of paths and logging trails, there is a lovely view straight ahead towards the hamlet of Ermensbach and the glacial basin of the Neuweiher Lakes, and to the right towards the Rimbach Pass. Continue along the main path to the left, which climbs a little further before entering a beautiful forest. Leave this stony path and take the dirt track that veers slightly to the left at the hairpin bend. Further up, join the route that climbs towards Neuweiher and Gresson.

(8) Head downhill to the left towards Oberbruck (yellow ring and blue cross). This path zigzags. At the penultimate bend, you will come to a large oak tree with a rock and a bench: there is a superb view of part of Oberbruck, its aerodrome and the village of Kirchberg in the background. Finish the descent to reach the D466 and, just opposite, the car park where you started (S/E).
