Park in the car park at the Maison du Parc in Maroilles.
(S/E) Leave the Maison du Parc and go down to the mill dating from 1575 via the staircase known as the Vert de Gris. Cross the sluice bridge. A turbine supplied electricity to the village and the factory between the two wars. Join the Basse Maroilles.
(1) Ignore Rue des Malades on your right, which you will take on the way back, and continue straight ahead. Keep to the right at the next two forks.
(2) Continue right along Chemin de Cerfmont: legend has it that Saint Hubert protected a deer hunted by hunters under his cloak here. Follow the signs carefully as you cross the hamlet.
(3) Continue right onto Chemin du Quemineau. View of the village and the Maroilles countryside.
(4) Make a first turn right then left onto the RD 959 and take the Ruelle du Cruquet on the left.
(5) At the intersection, continue to the right. You will be walking through the heart of the pastures, passing the Cense de Catillon, a former farm belonging to Maroilles Abbey, on your right.
(6) At the next crossroads, turn right onto Chemin de la Rosière, which becomes Rue des Prés further on. At the first houses, note the Chapelle Notre-Dame de Grâce (Chapelle des Prés on the map).
(7) Carefully cross the RD 959, then turn left onto Rue des Malades.
In the Middle Ages, a leprosarium was established "outside the walls" on this street, welcoming people suffering from leprosy.
(1) Follow the starting route to the left to reach the Maison du Parc (S/E).
