Route de découverte de Bergholtz

Park in the car park on Rue de Bergholtz-Zell near the sports fields and the former tithe house.

(S/E) Leave the road on your right and walk along Rue de Bergholtz-Zell on your left, passing the house and the fountain until you reach a cross. Then return to the car park entrance and continue straight on, passing the town hall until you reach Rue de Guebwiller.

(1) Leave the return route on your left and turn right onto this street. At the first junction, turn left onto Rue des Lilas, then right onto Rue des Vergers. Follow the street to the end, then turn left onto Rue du Canal. At the end you will find the Canal and Rue Vauban.

(2) Walk up the street to the left, following the canal. At the end of the street, you will reach Rue d’Issenheim.

(3) Cross it carefully, continue straight ahead and head into the countryside. At the next junction there is an information board about the former Bergholtz Castle. Continue straight ahead to reach the playground and picnic area, as well as the information board about the Canal Vauban. The maps are out of date for this section.

(4) Turn back to the junction. Turn right, then, at the road junction, go straight ahead. At the bend in the road, turn right to see a cross.

(5) Return to the previous junction and go straight ahead. At the first set of junctions, take Rue Saint-Gall on the left. At the end is Rue de l’Église. Turn right along this street, passing the church, the war memorial and the cemetery to reach the junction from the outward journey.

(1) Turn right to return to the starting point (S/E).
