Jaulny and Jaunottes route

Park at the top of the village of Jaulny.

(S/E) Turn left onto the Grande Rue, then, at the bend, turn right onto the Chemin de la Côte du Triche. Walk along the castle ramparts as you descend towards the Rupt de Mad river and join it.

(1) Cross the bridge and then keep to the right on the path to reach the railway bridge.

(2) Cross the railway bridge and, on the other side, take the path on the right and follow the Red Ring markings. Continue to the end of this path.

(3) Continue along the path that follows it, also marked with the Red Ring. Stay on this path, ignoring all the turnings to the right and left, to reach the Ruisseau de Rupt.

(4) Cross it via the wooden bridge. Follow the left bank of the stream and make a circular loop to walk alongside the pond. After the embankment, reach a crossroads of tracks.

(5) Leave the Red Ring markings here and turn left onto the small tarmac road, starting an ascent through the woods. You will reach a crossroads at the edge of the woods.

(6) Turn right onto the dirt track to reach the transmitter.

(7) Continue downhill, first through a clearing, then through the woods. Join the Rembercourt-Sur-Mad road. Turn left onto it to reach the bridge over the Rupt de Mar.

(8) Turn right, cross the bridge and follow the Red Ring markings again. You will soon reach the junction with the D28.

(9) Take the small tarmac road uphill to the left and, after two hairpin bends, reach the junction of^{the GRP®} Entre Côtes de Moselle et Côtes de Meuse.

(10) Turn left here and follow the Yellow-Red markings through the woods until you reach a T-junction.

(11) Leave the^GRP® here and turn right for about 100 metres. You will reach the junction of a wide forest track.

(12) Turn right here, continue through the Bois de la Petite Montagne along an almost straight path, then turn right to rejoin the GRP^®.

(13) Join it opposite, and follow its dual yellow-red and Red Ring markings. Head downhill to reach the junction by the Jaulny cemetery.

(14) Turn left and rejoin the main road leading into Jaulny. Then turn left onto Rue du Moulin, pass the town hall, then head up Jaulny’s main street to reach the car park at the top of the village of Jaulny (S/E).

(1) Note: you can park in a large car park on Chemin du Fey and start from there.
After (S/E) take a detour through the village, heading towards the church in the square to see the renovated wash house and, 100 m further on, the entrance to the castle; you can also park in this square.
(2) Lovely view of Jaulny Castle.
Between (5) and (6), there is a long bench suitable for a picnic, 500 m past the wooden bridge, on the banks of the Étang du Rupt.
Before (11) there is a lovely view of Rembercourt-sur-Mad.
After (11) on the^GRP®, there is a blockhouse to see.

Near (1) Jaulny Castle.
The charming little town of Thiaucourt and Lac de Madine are not far away for a summer swim.
