The start is near the town hall and the school. There is free parking. A ‘Balades Vertes’ sign shows the three marked routes in Frangy-en-Bresse, including the Clémencey to L’Abergement route marked FRA1.
(S/E) Turn right onto the D423 towards Charnay and continue for just over 1 km.
(1) At the bottom of Charnay, turn right onto the dirt track. Continue for 2 km southwards, keeping to the right at every junction you come to, following a stony path that winds through cultivated fields and meadows.
(2) Turn right onto the path leading to Route de Champfrenay.
(3) Continue right along the tarmac road to the Perriat crossroads.
(4) Turn left onto Chemin de la Perriat (tarmac road) then continue along the dirt track which passes in front of an old, isolated farmhouse. Continue to the junction with a road at a place called Villeneuve.
(5) Turn left, then take thefirst track on the right and continue to the D23.
(6) Cross the road (watch out for traffic) and take Chemin de Beauvoir opposite. Pass through a group of buildings and continue to the next junction on the right. The landscape consists of alternating meadows and farmland.
(7) At Beauvoir, turn right and walk to Chemin du Haut de Beauvoir.
(8) At the junction, turn right onto the dirt track that crosses meadows where it is not uncommon to come across dairy cows or Charolais cattle. Cross over a small stream called the Teuil.
(9) Back on the tarmac road, simply turn right onto Traverse du Bourg and head towards the town hall square, going round the school (S/E).
