(S/E) Walk past the church (the building will be on your left) from the square and head down the main street for about 200m. Turn right onto Rue des Pierres and keep right at the first junction.
(1) Turn right to follow the Red Ring. A few metres further on, keep left and leave the road by taking the path on the left. Turn left at the next junction.
(2) Head left to go round Scharrach Hill. Once on the path, keep left initially, then, at the next three junctions, keep right. Ignore the next two crossroads to stay on the main path. At the third, keep left to reach the village of Scharrachbergheim via Rue de la Montagne.
(3) At the end of this street, turn left onto Rue Principale (D225) and follow it for about 400m. At the three-way junction, turn right.
(4) Turn left into Rue des Jardins. Further on, continue straight ahead, taking the path furthest to the right. At the junction, turn right, cross the small bridge and then continue left to reach Rue du Lavoir in the village of Irmstett.
(5) At the junction, turn left onto Rue du Moulin and follow it to the end (you will need to cross the D422). The road turns into a track; continue straight ahead, ignoring the next few junctions.
(6) At the wayside shrine, continue straight ahead and keep to the right at the fork. At the next junction, continue straight ahead and ignore all the turnings on either side until you reach the D654.
(7) Cross this main road and continue along the path in front of you. Keep following the same path (without turning) to reach Balbronn via Rue des Hirondelles.
(8) At the end of this street, turn left onto Route de Westhoffen and take the second right, Rue des Champs, which you will follow to the end.
(9) When you reach the D75, turn left, and almost immediately take Rue de la Forêt on the right (D275). At the end, turn right onto Rue du Château, then turn left, walking alongside the stadium which will be on your right.
(10) Then take the second right to leave the village of Balbronn towards Bergbieten. Ignore the first junction and turn right at the second to reach the village of Bergbieten.
(11) Follow Rue du Stade to the right, then at the roundabout, continue straight ahead onto Rue de Contrières. Cross the D118 and turn into Rue des Vergers. Turn left almost immediately afterwards to enter Rue du Dr Albert Schweitzer. Continue to the end to leave the village.
(12) Leave the road and take a path on the left. Continue straight ahead at the first and second junctions.
(13) At the third junction, turn left. Continue straight on to reach Dangolsheim via Rue Haute and follow it.
(14) Take the 4th right, Rue du Village. Then the second right, Rue de l'Eglise, and follow it to the end to leave the village. At the crossroads, take the left-hand lane. Ignore all junctions and you will arrive on Rue des Casemates in Soultz-les-Bains. Continue straight on along Rue du Père Antoine Stiegler.
(15) At the end, turn left into Rue Saint-Maurice, cross the D422 and continue straight ahead into Rue de Strasbourg (D45) for about 300m.
(16) At the bend, take the path on the left, after the cycle path. This is the one with a wayside cross clearly visible from the road; if in doubt, follow the Red Ring. At the junction, keep right, continue past the next fork and keep right again at the third choice. The path joins the D118.
(17) Follow it to the right, continuing for about 300m until you reach a group of buildings on the right. Opposite, take the path on the left to leave the road, then turn right at the end. Ignore the next two junctions and turn left at the third. Turn right as soon as possible to join Rue des Pierres in Dahlenheim.
(1) You should recognise the route you started the walk on. Follow Rue des Pierres to Rue Principale on the left. Continue to the end to return to your starting point, Place de l’Église (S/E).
