Departure from the forecourt of the Basilica of Avesnières.
(S/E) Take the Allée du Ronceray, which runs alongside the basilica, to reach the towpath (south of the Avesnières lock).
Turn right and follow the towpath southwards (the Mayenne river is on your left). Pass behind the textile factory, TDV Industrie.
(1) Walk along the Graviers car park. The wash boat, the Saint-Yves, has been stored there since 2009.
(2) Pass behind the water treatment plant before joining the D1 (Rue du Bas des Bois). Walk along the latter.
After about 500 metres, cross the road and take a path that leads into the Bois de l'Huisserie, perpendicular to the road.
Follow the stream (which is almost always dry) on the left, along a small sloping path (50m elevation gain over 400m). The path leads to an alley, the Allée de la Mare aux Loups, at a pond.
(3) Turn right and follow Allée de la Mare aux Loups. At the second crossroads, take the path on the left. Keep heading west.
(4) Just before the junction with Route de l'Huisserie, turn right and walk alongside the "Club Lavallois du chien de travail"(working dog club). Continue along the path until you reach a tarmac road (Chemin du Tertre Souchard).
Follow the tarmac road opposite, then turn right at the first crossroads (Chemin de la Gommetière).
(5) At the Gommetière farm, enjoy the view over the southern districts of Laval.
(6) At the Grand Pressoir farm, there is an old toll booth on the right-hand side of the road.
Continue along Chemin de la Gommetière until you reach Rue du Bois de l'Huisserie.
Turn left and take the underpass to cross Boulevard des Trappistines.
At the exit of the underpass, turn right and then left onto Rue de l'Huisserie.
(7) Take the first street on the right, Rue de l'École, which leads to Place d'Avesnières (S/E).
