Description of the walk

Start from the car park of the Jules Ferry School Complex, Rue Victor Hugo.
(S/E) With your back to the school complex, head left and proceed to the next junction.
(1) Turn left onto the one-way street (Rue Jean Jaurès) and carry on straight ahead, heading south, until you leave the village. You’ll reach the start of a cycle path (Route d’Artres).
(2) Continue along this path, enter the cobbled section and reach a four-way junction.
(3) Turn left onto Chemin des Postes and follow it to another four-way junction at a place called Les Quatre Chemins. (4) Turn left onto Chemin de Préseau and continue to a five-way junction at the first houses in Aulnoy-Lez-Valenciennes.
(5) Continue straight on along Rue de Préseau and follow it to the bridge over the Rhonelle, situated a few dozen metres before the Town Hall.
(6) Just after the bridge, take the path on the right, cross the park and carry on to the end of a footbridge spanning a wetland area, behind the Salle des Nymphéas.
(7) Turn left and return to the car park of the Jules Ferry School Complex (S/E).

The route is simple and triangular. After a straight stretch along a street lined with houses (you’re still in the village), you head out into the countryside, with a lovely view of the fields to the left and, in the distance to the right, a housing estate of new-build homes. Then you turn left; the path climbs and then descends once you’ve turned left to return to the starting point. Quite a lot of cobblestones. A short walk for when you don’t fancy a long one, but of limited interest. We only came across three or four cyclists and walkers.
