The starting point is at the car park of the Charles Tomas Village Hall in the village of Broye.
(S/E) Leave the car park and walk up the main street (Rue Louise Michel) to the three-way junction, where you turn right for about thirty metres.
(1) Take a sharp right-hand bend and follow Rue de Champmartin. Then walk steadily uphill for about 1 km until you reach Grand Champmartin at a fork in the road.
(2) Leave the path on your left – which you’ll take on the way back – and carry straight on to the next junction 100 metres ahead.
(3) Turn left onto the path leading uphill, towards the Porte de Broye. Continue along the path for about 1 km until you come to another path.
(4) Turn right and, a little further on, cross a stream. Continue to the next junction, about 200 m away.
(5) On your right, below you, you’ll see some ancient ruins. Leave the path to take a look at them. Retrace your steps and turn right. After about 50 m, turn right again. Then carry on for about 600 m until you reach the next junction. You’ll be walking alongside an old stone wall.
(6) At the three-way junction, turn left onto a footpath. Continue for about 700 m to the Porte de Broye crossroads.
(7) When you reach the area near the surrounding wall, head left onto the path signposted “Le Tronchet” for 1.5 km until you reach the next crossroads.
(8) Turn left as you head down towards Étang du Fou and walk past a small forestry operation. Enjoy the view of Étang du Fou.
(9) Turn back towards the previous junction and carry on straight ahead until you reach the next crossroads.
(10) At the main track, turn left, passing in front of a property. Continue downhill until you reach Grand Champmartin, about 2 km away.
(2) Turn right and, following the same route back as on the way out, head downhill for about 1 km to reach the village, arriving at the car park of the Salle des Fêtes Charles Tomas (S/E).
