Park at the junction of the D 287 and the Route des Thubes.
(S/E) From La Croix Blanchot (elevation 517), take the road towards Les Thubes to the east until you reach a junction.
(1) At the junction at Les Thubes, turn onto the small road to the left and then immediately right. At the end of the tarmac section, continue along the dirt track opposite at the edge of the woods. Walk for about 200 m, take the wide path on your right uphill and enter the Planoise forest. You will reach a junction.
(2) Turn sharply left. After the marker engraved with an S, follow the Chemin de la Conduite and, at the next junction, turn right down a steep slope. At the next junction, turn left.
(3) Take the narrow path on the right.
A marking consisting of 1 white stripe and 2 red stripes marks the boundary of the Rançon conservation area.
Continue at the same altitude, cross the small stream, and immediately follow the same path that branches off to the left.
Through the forest on your left, you will see the Haut Rançon Reservoir.
(4) When you reach the Ruisseau de la Noue on your left, cross the stone bridge, then immediately turn left and follow the stream, where the path veers slightly to your right.
When you reach a crossroads, take the small path on your left and you’ll come out onto a wide path, which you follow by turning left.
(5) Admire the wild setting of the Rançon reservoir and dam on your right, continue on, cross the Ruisseau de la Noue again, then go round the metal barrier. Continue straight ahead and take the path furthest to the left.
(6) When you reach a stone building with a metal gate on your left, take the slight incline straight ahead, then follow the main path which veers slightly to the left.
(7) As you leave Bois Saint-Martin, take the tarmac road straight ahead; when you reach a crossroads, turn left.
After thefirst house on the right, take the path on the right and head down towards the Rançon, at elevation 451.
(8) Turn left when the path begins to curve to the right, rejoin a narrow path and follow the Rançon. You’ll come out onto the RD 287; turn right and cross the bridge.
(9) Take the wide path on your left which runs alongside the Rançon. You’ll come to some houses; pass between the two houses and cross the small bridge over the Rançon.
Continue, then turn left at a crossroads.
(10) You’ll come out onto a small road; turn left, then left again. Follow the road, and after the last house on your left, take a small path to the left, heading due east.
(11) When you reach Les Naudiots, just before the ponds on your left, leave the road, take the path on your right, then turn right again and continue. You will come out onto a road; turn left and continue to the starting point (S/E).
