(S) From Capanna Monte Bar, return to the previous day's route, leaving the Monte Bar trail on your left. Continue on the Cattle Trail towards the northeast until you reach Piandanazzo.
(1) Stay on the Cattle Trail until you reach an intersection at Moncucco.
(2) Take the left-hand trail and continue to another intersection.
(3) Leave the Cattle Trail and take a path on the left that rejoins the ridge trail at Passo di Pozzaiolo.
(4) Take the Scenic Trail back to Pozzaiolo for another fork and another signpost.
(5) Stay on the ridge and begin the ascent of Monte Garzirola.
(6) Walk along slightly descending terrain to Sasso Basciotta.
(7) You will quickly reach the Rifugio Garzirola, which is already clearly visible below.
(8) Take the Scenic Trail and begin a steep descent to Passo San Lucio on the Italian-Swiss border. This is the ideal place to stop for lunch. The site is remarkable; you will find the Capanna San Lucio on the Swiss side and the Rifugio San Lucio and the magnificent Church of San Lucio, an ancient15th-century Romanesque oratory, on the Italian side.
(9) Continue on the Scenic Trail/Cattle Trail to the next junction.
(10) Leave the Scenic Trail to avoid the unnecessary climb up Monte Cucco and head to Bocchetta di San Bernardo via the path on the left.
(11) At the Bocchetta di San Bernardo, take the Cattle Trail opposite and leave the Scenic Trail, which continues along the ridge. You will come to a junction with a forest track.
(12) Stick to the Cattle Trail and keep heading west. After rejoining the Scenic Trail, you will come to another intersection with the forest track.
(13) Turn south onto the Cattle and Scenic Trails, which merge at this point.
(14) Turn right at the crossroads and drive down to your evening accommodation: Caponna Pairol (E).
