Start: Paillencourt church
(S/E) With your back to the Paillencourt church, go straight ahead (on the D71), passing the town hall on your left.
(1) Take the first street on your left (rue de Cambrai).
Go straight on, and soon the cobblestones will remind you that you're in the North.
(2) At the calvary (marked 52m), go left over the cobblestones, cross the bridge over the Paris-Bruxelle freeway (marked 71m), and arrive in the village of Eswars.
(3) Oratory (marked 52m). Turn left. At the next crossroads, go straight ahead. Go past the church, then at the end of the road, cross the bridge over the Escaut canal (marked 45m).
(4) Turn left onto Rue Verte and cross the Thun l'Evèque marshland.
In the marsh, turn left at two successive crossroads (marked 38m), passing an oratory.
(5) Go left on the road. Cross the bridge over the Scheldt canal, with its lock on your left (marked 41m). Go straight over the Scheldt river bridge. Continue straight on, leaving the first street on your right.
(6) Turn right on the D61 for 350m, until you reach the left-hand bend.
(7) Turn right into Rue de l'Abreuvoir, which will take you to the Scheldt canal, where you will take the carriageway on your left. The canal is on your right.
Go straight ahead, passing a new lock. Pass under the freeway bridge (marked 44m). Pass under another bridge (marker 40m). A hundred meters further on, the Sensée canal joins the Scheldt canal.
(8) Continue along the Sensée canal on your right. After passing under another bridge, the canal widens considerably (small marina and nautical base on the other side). After 1.5km, you'll pass under another bridge.
(9) Take the ramp on your left. Oratory. You're now in Paillencourt.
At the top of the ramp, turn right onto the D71. Pass the pharmacy. Come back to the Paillencourt church. You are now back where you started (S/E).
