Around Ramillies

Park in the Contour du Marais school car park.

(S/E) At the intersection with Rue de Cambrai, turn right, ignore the street on the right and the two streets on the left, follow Rue d'Eswars, then turn right onto Rue Victor Ségard, ignoring the dead end on the left.

(1) At the intersection with Rue Venant, turn left onto Rue du Petit Chemin de Ramillies, ignoring the road on the right. At the intersection with the D61, Rue de Ramillies (Eswars), turn right, ignoring the road on the left.

(2) At the three-way junction with Chemin de Paillencourt, turn left and then, at the crossroads with Rue du Calvaire, turn right.

(3) At the Place de la Mairie crossroads, continue straight ahead, then turn right onto Rue de l'Église. Continue along Rue de l'Amiral Fleuriais and turn right, ignoring the street on your right and crossing the canal.

(4) At the intersection with Impasse du Canal, turn right, then take^{the second} left onto Rue Montagne. At the intersection with Rue des Fossés, turn right, ignoring the road on your right.

(5) At the three-way junction at Château d'Eswards, turn left onto Rue des Fossés (Escaudoeuvres). At the crossroads, go straight ahead, ignoring the street on your left.

(6) At the intersection with Rue des Prés, turn left, then left onto Rue Salvador Allende. At the intersection with Rue Jean Jaurès, continue straight ahead onto Rue du 11 Novembre.

(7) At the crossroads with Rue Louise Michel, turn left, ignore the lane on the left and follow the path. At the three-way junction with Chemin du Pont des Loups, turn right and go under the railway bridge.

(8) At the intersection with Chemin du Pont des Loups, turn right, ignore the path on the left and continue along the grassy path. At the intersection with Rue du 11 Novembre, turn right and cross the railway line.

(9) At the intersection with Rue Victor Hugo, turn left and follow this street to the end, ignoring the streets on the left and right. At the intersection with Rue de l'Épinette, turn left.

(10) After the last house (no. 90) on the right, take the path on the right, then turn right. At the intersection with Rue des Lilas, go straight ahead onto Rue des Jonquilles.

(11) At the intersection with Rue des Genets, turn right, then left onto Rue des Violettes, ignoring the dead end on the left. At the intersection with Rue Jean Jaurès, cross the road using the pedestrian crossing on the right, then go down the steps.

(12) At Rue d'Erre, turn left, ignore the cul-de-sac on the left and the alley on the right, go straight ahead at the crossroads, then turn right onto Rue Marie-Anne Cattiaux.

(13) At the intersection with Rue des Prés, turn left and continue until you reach the Canal de l'Escaut, then turn left onto Voie Communale du Canal.

(14) At the intersection with Rue d'Erre, turn right and cross the bridge. At the chapel, turn right onto Rue de la Chapelle d'Erre, then Rue d'Erre (Ramillies), ignoring the street on the left.

(15) At the intersection with Rue de la Ville, turn right and then right again. At the end of Rue de la Ville, turn left onto Chemin de Halage, then left. At the bend in Contour du Marais, turn left and, at the intersection with Rue de l'Église, turn right to arrive at the school car park. (S/E)

The route is easy but not signposted. The terrain is earth, grass, stones and tarmac. Wear suitable footwear.
