Around Ramillies

From Ramillies, let your feet guide you along peaceful paths, where the fresh air and open views invite you to slow down. Very soon, Eswars appears on the horizon, a charming village surrounded by greenery, reflecting the typical tranquillity of the Cambrésis countryside.

As you continue towards Escaudœuvres, the scenery comes alive with touches of heritage and a discreet industrial legacy, offering a subtle contrast to the gentle landscapes you pass through. This is an ideal route for enjoying the simplicity of a walk where nature and history intertwine harmoniously.

Hello,
At this moment, I have not completed the entire route as proposed.
However, as I live nearby, I am familiar with some sections of the route, particularly from Eswars to Escaudoeuvres, returning via the towpath along the canalised Scheldt.
It's a lovely, bucolic, shaded path that can be enjoyed in either direction.
Starting from Ramillies (and returning there) seems like an interesting extension to me. On the other hand, the urban loop through the streets of Escaudoeuvres (from 6 to 12) only serves to lengthen the distance to 14 km..
My "rant": I would like to take this opportunity to complain about the GENERAL lack of information about places to stop and/or picnic, especially on routes longer than two hours!
In this Ramillies loop, there is a table where you are welcome to rest after point 4. At points 6 and 13, you will find the beautiful wooded pond of Escaudoeuvres, which also has several benches and tables. What wonderful hospitality!
Enjoy your hike, ideally with a map in hand.
Best regards, CHILDERIC
