Genoa sightseeing route departing from the cruise terminal
Old Genoa is a superb city that is an absolute must-see. It’s true that it’s easy to miss, as the motorway doesn’t pass through the city centre. However, if you’re on a cruise, the pier is located in the city centre, making it ideal for exploring on foot.
You won’t regret the 8.5 km (minimum) walk, as this city is brimming with treasures of beauty.
Forti di Genova
The forts of Genoa are a series of military fortifications dating from different periods that the Republic of Genoa built to defend the urban territory of the Ligurian capital throughout its history. The construction projects were also resumed and used during the Napoleonic era, the Risorgimento and during the First and Second World Wars. This defensive system represents the longest city walls in Europe and the second longest in the world.
