Start from the Bourguignon Monument in the centre of the village.
(S/E) With your back to the monument, turn right onto Grande Rue and follow the markings (from the Pont de Roide and Mathay hiking club) to reach the D437. Cross this road at the pedestrian crossing and take the small road opposite that leads into the forest. Cross the railway line and continue straight on along Chemin de Warembourg. Leave the path on your right that goes up to the power station or Mathay and continue to a small car park.
(1) Follow the stream, the Rut, along the forest road marked by the Union de Randonnée Verte (U.R.V) + the 3 rectangles on the sign that goes up the Combe de Warembourg.
You will arrive at a chalet with a picnic table and a fire pit for barbecues.
(2) Turn right, passing by the chalet, and follow the yellow rectangular markings, leaving the U.R.V. marked forest road + 2 white and blue rectangles on your left.
At the next intersection, turn right and follow the yellow rectangular markings. Go up this path to reach a crossroads.
(3) Turn right and follow the path marked with three white, blue and yellow rectangles, leaving the path on the left marked with two white and blue rectangles.
At the next intersection, turn left, leaving the markings.
(The path marked with three white, blue and yellow rectangles descends to the right to reach the power station or village of Bourguignon).
Pass under the power lines. At each pylon, enjoy the superb view of Bourguignon, Mathay and the power station. Then descend, continuing along this path to find another path marked U.R.V in the Combe de Vaux.
(4) Turn right at the descent. Cross the railway line (the old line from Saint-Hippolyte to Montbéliard).
(5) A new housing development has been built in recent years. Reach it via the small dirt track and take the street (Allée des Champs de l'Épine) to reach the D437 roundabout with pedestrian crossings. Take Rue des Aviateurs opposite, pass the sand pits and join a path on the right a few metres further on.
(6) Follow the path on the right, marked with the U.R.V. sign, which runs along the edge of the Doubs. At the Bourguignon cemetery, continue to the left.
(7) At the crossroads, turn right onto Rue de l'Église, then right again onto Grande Rue and head towards the monument and car park (S/E).
