Departure from Pont de Roide.
After the intersection of Rue Besançon and Montbéliard, take Rue du 12 Septembre, which is one-way.
Park just before the metallurgy factory in the car park on the left (opposite the children's home), or there is free parking at the Tourist Office (maison pour tous) or near the church in Pont de Roide.
(S/E) Follow Route du 12 Septembre and turn left just after the factory.
(1) Take the small path that leads to Pont de Roide beach, then turn right to follow the old railway line that joins the small road to Damjoux.
(2) Cross it and take the path opposite that goes up into the woods. Follow this path, pass above the Rochedane meadow, then continue straight ahead.
(3) Follow the path, turning right and leaving the pasture on your left.
(4) Pass under the high-voltage power line (viewpoint) and, at the next intersection, continue along the path opposite, slightly to the right. Arrive at Prés du Bas and continue straight ahead to reach an intersection.
(5) Turn right, then go up this path.
(6) Pass the cement bars, enter a private forest and follow theGR® du Pays de Montbéliard markings (yellow and red rectangle). From the ridges, you can see Chasseral and the Doubs valley.
(7) Continue downhill under a power line (superb view of Mathay and the Montbéliard region) and you will see the Pont de Roide rock formations.
(8) When you reach a forest path, leave theGR® du Pays de Montbéliard and follow the yellow and blue rectangle markings. Pass in front of the Petit Lomont farm. Look for a small building on the right (a renovated former granary), from where you can see Rochedane and Damjoux below. Continue along this forest path towards Pont de Roide, following the last signpost.
(9) Leave the forest path and follow a small marked trail, cross the Essarts neighbourhood and join Rue du 12 Septembre and the car park (S/E).
