Access At the southern exit of Die, between the Meyrosse car park and the RD93 roundabout, cross the level crossing and take the RD244 to the hamlet of Ausson. In the hamlet, turn right between two buildings towards the Ausson farm (Chemin de Beaufays). Continue straight ahead, passing the access road to the farm (yurt lodge), and walk a few hundred metres up the track at the bottom of the valley.
You can park on the left on a platform just after a small ford (be careful if you have a low-clearance vehicle). There are few other parking options before this point, so please do not obstruct residents or agricultural or forestry vehicles.
Alternatively, park before the hamlet of Ausson towards Les Grimauds (at the crossroads with the track known as "Chemin de Barral") and walk to the starting point along this track.
(S/E) Follow the forest track north-west, at the bottom of the valley, for about 800m until you reach an ONF barrier. Go through this barrier and continue for a few metres until you reach a trail on the right (marked).
(1) Take this path which climbs into the forest, ignoring a few shortcuts. After a series of hairpin bends, you will come out onto a logging track (Beauvoisin signpost).
(2) Take this track on the left, which is initially level, then climbs slightly, crosses two ravines and heads generally south. A few metres after thesecond ravine, you will find a path leading off to the right (marked).
(3) Climb this winding path, paying attention to the markings and ignoring secondary tracks (note that the IGN map is sometimes inaccurate up to Pas de Damiane). After a slightly bushy forest section, the more pleasant path arrives at Pas du Renard (a steep passage between two rocks). After this pass, the trail makes a sharp turn to the left, passes a viewpoint before continuing between the box trees and leading to a forest track (Pas de Damiane signpost).
(4) Take the track on the right, ignore the first path, before finding a marked trail on the left.
Take this path, which climbs to a junction of several paths.
(5) Ignore the paths branching off to the left and right and continue on the middle path (westbound), which descends. You will arrive at another forest track. Take it to the left until you reach Justin's lodge.
(6) Just before the lodge, take the path downhill to the right, which levels out and then climbs slightly. Leave a fork to the right towards the Col du Lion before arriving at the Bât de l'Âne path (viewpoint). Continue along this narrow path. It descends to pass under a barrier before coming out onto a track which you take to the right uphill. This straight track leads to another track suitable for vehicles. On the left, you can go to the Croix de Justin (viewpoint over Die, cross, antennas)
(7). Take this track on the right, continue for just under 200 metres and, before an ONF barrier, look for a marked path that climbs to the left above the track.
Take this path, which climbs gently to a small pass north of Serre des Pins. Continue downhill along a path heading east.
(8) Leave a path climbing up to the right towards the Col du Lion and continue downhill. The path becomes a trail, making three hairpin bends before arriving at the Col de Beauvoisin.
(9) Take the path on the right (southbound) and follow it until you reach a path descending to the left (Beauvoisin signpost), which you will have already encountered on the way up.
(2) Take this path on the left and, following the route you took on the way up, return to the starting point (S/E).
