Description of the walk

Park at the Valcroissant Abbey car park

(S/E) From the car park, head straight on towards the Dôme les Fays (yellow and green markings), starting a winding ascent.

(1) At Les Fays, turn left towards Les Quatre Chemins.

(2) At the Les Quatre Chemins signpost, take the sharp right-hand bend towards Le Comptoir à Moutons (steep climb).

(3) At the Comptoir à Moutons, turn left and continue climbing (yellow markings and cairns).

(4) Once on the plateau (cairn), head straight up a small path visible in the grass to the junction with theGR®®91.

(5) Atthe GR®® 91, turn right for 200 m.

(6) Turn right towards the summit of the Dôme and climb straight up to the summit.

(7) At the summit, enjoy the 360° view, then descend to the Châtillon Hut via the Col de la Raille.

(8) At the Cabane de Châtillon, head due south to the large cairn, rejoiningthe GR®® 91.

(9) At the large cairn, begin the descent and turn left to reach the Source de Baume Rousse (fresh water).

(10) Retrace your steps and head down to Châtillon-en-Diois (steep descent).

(11) At Serre des Granges, cross the forest track and continue straight on.

(12) At the Oursière signpost, continue straight on.

(13) On reaching Châtillon, turn right onto the tarmac road towards Le Suel, still following theGR®® 95.

(14) At Le Suel, turn left and cross the stream towards Col de Caux, then begin a relatively gentle climb.

(15) At the Beaume signpost, continue climbing the winding path towards Col des Caux.

(16) At the Les Caux signpost, turn left towards the pass, following theGR®® 95.

(17) At the pass, head down to the left on theGR®® to the stream.

(18) At the Peyrol signpost, turn right towards Col de l'Abbaye and begin the ascent.

(19) At Col de l'Abbaye, leave theGR®® and turn right towards Col Fauchard (yellow and green markings).

(20) At the Col de Fauchard, continue straight on towards Les Fays and Valcroissant Abbey until you reach the Les Fays junction.

(1) Turn left and, following the route back in the opposite direction, return to the Valcroissant Abbey car park (S/E).
