Description of the walk

Park in Larcuste, at the entrance to the path leading to the burial mounds.

(S/E) Head towards the burial mounds via the path that climbs gently between the two fields. Less than 200 m from the road, you will find the burial mounds and the information board.

(1) Return to the road.

(S/E) Turn left, heading south-east, then left again to pass through the village and continue straight on, descending slightly towards a path leading out of the village. Continue to your left until you reach the edge of the woods. The path follows theGRP® with yellow and red markings (hard to see).

(2) Follow the path which runs alongside and then enters the Bois Chohan. After a slight descent, do not continue straight on but take the hairpin bend up to the right. The path continues downwards through a wetland area running alongside a meadow on its left. To avoid the muddy ruts, walk higher up on the right-hand side of the path.

(3) When you reach Talnay, do not enter the hamlet but turn immediately right onto theGRP® behind the farmhouse. Continue along this path to the road, leaving the hamlet of Keribio on your left.

(4) When you reach the road running alongside the D767 dual carriageway, turn left and continue until you reach the bridge to cross under it. Turn right and go under the dual carriageway, then take the tarmac road on the right which climbs alongside the dual carriageway.

(5) When you reach the edge of the woods, turn left onto the dirt track. Continue along this track and cross the small wooden bridge over the stream.

(6) At the small tarmac road (which replaces the old Vannes-Locminé railway line), continue to the right, straight north, and follow it for about 1.5 km. When you reach the D767, cross it by taking the bridge over the four-lane road.

(7) As you come down from this bridge, take the sharp right-hand bend to reach Kerbihan.

(8) Once you reach the hamlet of Kerbihan, head towards Keravélo (signposted). The new road goes round the houses in the hamlet. At the end of the road, turn right to reach Larcuste (S/E).

A lovely walk through the countryside, though you do have to walk along the road at times.

Hello
The first part of the walk to the Tumulus is well signposted.
As for the other part, despite using the app, we got lost at one point because it wasn't clearly marked. The walk is long and often takes you through fields, and to finish, you have to walk along the side of the road.
The pleasant aspects are the tranquillity and the streams.

The highlight of this route is the Larcuste burial mound, which experts describe as a "remarkable monument" because the two mounds each have three to four burial chambers, which is unusual. It is located in the middle of a field. The exterior has been cleared, but vegetation is somewhat overgrown around the mound. Access is free, but there is little information available.
As for the route, in the first half there were some short grassy areas, but in summer this is always a nuisance because of the ticks. Otherwise, the paths are very good and pleasant.
Towards the end, there are too many roads.

A very pleasant route through the woodland with sunken paths… A varied landscape… just one less pleasant stretch on the road between points 7 and 8, which is poorly signposted. A lovely route…

Hello
The main attraction of this route is the burial mound site. The section between the start and the end of the old railway line is very pleasant, with varied landscapes and woodland. From this point onwards, the return journey on tarmac in sunny weather is less enjoyable.
Best regards
Jean
