Circular route around the hamlets starting from La Durantié

A lovely circular route taking you round the hamlets near the Parenthèse lodges in the forest. Please follow the directions in the description carefully as we are unable to mark the route. You will come across a water source (stream) halfway along the route.

Description of the walk

Park in the hamlet of La Durantié.

(S/E) Take the road that climbs; at the crossroads, continue to the left. At the next bend, you’ll reach a path junction.

(1) Turn right onto this path and follow the yellow markings. You will reach the hamlet of Malout.

(2) Turn right onto the road, still marked with yellow signs, pass the phytopurification plant and then reach the hamlet of La Martinié.

(3) Leave the yellow markings here and turn right downhill. Cross the Ruisseau de la Durencuse via a footbridge. You will then come to a T-junction.

(4) Continue straight ahead, ignoring all turnings to the right or left, and follow a virtually level section to reach a road and the stream.

(5) Cross the Durencuse via the bridge, follow the road for about a hundred metres, then turn right onto the path on the left bank of a tributary stream. Reach a large clearing and continue to the right along a hairpin bend. You will then reach the hamlet of Viala.

(6) Turn left to complete the climb and reach the Durantié car park (S/E).
