The Legend Trail in St-Salvy-de-la-Balme

Hike in the Sidobre massif in the Tarn, a major trail in Sidobre that can be enjoyed again and again by young and old alike.
A journey imagined and illustrated by the village children, based on the rocks and legends of Sidobre.
Set off to discover the famous rocks of Sidobre, such as Napoleon's Hat and Chaos de la Balme, in the middle of the undergrowth, following in the footsteps of the main legends of the area and the remains left by the stone cutters of the early20th century.

Description of the walk

The long loop starts from the village square, where there is parking for all vehicles. Avenue du Sidobre near the town hall of Saint-Salvy-de-la-Balme. Yellow markings with signs in both directions.
For the short loop, the start is at the Parking du Chaos de la Balme at point (4). See Practical Information.

(S/E) Go through the small garden behind the presbytery behind the town hall, then continue straight ahead, passing the war memorial on your right.

(1) Turn right/left and continue along the street until the right-hand bend. Turn left onto a path. When you reach an intersection with another path on your right at the start of the undergrowth, continue straight downhill until you reach a junction with the PR®.

(2) Follow this path to the right, "Sentier des Légendes", until you reach Chaos de la Balme.

(3) We recommend making a short round trip to explore this large river of rocks before continuing to follow the yellow markings towards Balme du Loup. Arrive at the Chaos de la Balme car park.
(4) Turn left, then right before the workshop to return to the village. Then turn right at Castellasses and continue straight ahead until you reach the road.

(5) Turn right and return to the car park via Rue Charles de Gaulle (S/E).
