Park in the small car park opposite the school in Cambounès.
(S/E) Take the road that climbs towards the cemetery (you can see cypress trees from the car park). Walk past it and continue along the small path that climbs uphill (not shown on the IGN map). You can hear the Durenque river flowing without seeing it, and the shaded path remains cool. At the first intersection, turn right, then straight ahead at the next one.
(1) Join a road and follow it to the left. The view widens and you can see the river winding through the meadows. Continue to Espérières.
(2) After the first house in the hamlet, turn left and follow the path that goes around the large meadow before entering the woods (there is a stone on the left, after the first house). The walls and stonework of the path attest to its use by the ancients. In spring, you can see the valley and the surrounding hills through the branches. You are now in the Prince's woods. Pass in front of the Claus farm.
(3) Follow the road on the left, then the track on the left before the last house. Turn right at a 90° angle, leaving a track on the left, continue straight ahead at the next intersection and then turn left. On either side of the path, you can see the ruins of Fourmigues, an old hamlet that consisted of several houses and was still in good condition in the early 1990s.
(4) Pass over the Cambounès filters. At the intersection, continue to the right, then left at the Rieu cross. The path overlooks the river for a while. You then follow an old irrigation channel, which was used to irrigate the meadows, supply water to the Callaret wash house and supply water to a turbine that generated electricity for the houses.
(5) Continue along the tarmac path down to the village. The flowers give Cambounès a lot of charm. Cross the old bridge to reach the car park (S/E).
