Head for the cemetery car park.
(S/E) Head towards the church and walk past the town hall. Follow this road to the cross.
(1) From there, turn left onto the “Route du Plan”. Cross the Morge and, at the next junction, turn left onto the “Route de Miribel”. Continue for 100 metres until you reach a road that climbs to the right.
(2) Take this street (Le Grand Chemin), which soon turns into a footpath. Walk uphill to the ram cross.
(3) Turn right towards Les Chambures. Walk for about 800 metres under the trees, then the view opens up. Walk past a pretty stone house on your right. Pass the cross and carry on to the junction.
(4) Cross the Route de la Montagne. Follow the road opposite to an old farm (Les Vessières). Now take the path that goes straight on. Continue to the fork near the Col du Pilori.
(5) Turn right towards Saint-Aupre. Walk down the path. When you reach the road, turn left towards a farm (altitude 836m), where you take the path on the right that leads downhill. Walk for about 500m until you reach a Fork in the road.
(6) Ignore the path leading down to Ture and turn left. You’ll soon reach a stone house. Go round the back of it and head towards the edge of the forest. Do not take the stony path leading straight up, but follow the track branching off to the right (some yellow markings remain). After about 900m, you’ll arrive at a clearing.
(7) Turn right, heading south-west. A sign reading ‘Les Vernays’ is painted on the trunk of a beech tree. Follow this path, which is still marked in yellow, for about 1 km until you reach a junction with a fairly wide stony track.
(8) At the junction, you’ll find a sign explaining the history of the Pont de Pierre Chave. Head right towards the bridge. After 150 metres, you’ll come out onto the road; turn right onto it to cross the bridge. Follow the road for 400 metres.
(9) Turn right onto the “Chemin du Verney” and, at the Fork in the road, take the right-hand path, the “Chemin des Balmettes”. After another 500 m, you’ll come to a left-hand bend.
(10) Take the path on the right leading into the forest. Walk down to the small bridge over the Morge. You will now reach the junction with the “Route de Miribel”.
(11) Turn left onto the D49, heading towards Saint-Aupre. After 200 m, you’ll see the “Route de Champtoraz” on your left.
(12) Walk past the houses and carry on straight ahead.
(1) Carry on straight ahead to the cemetery car park (S/E).
