Description of the walk

(S/E) Park near Le Pont at the entrance to Le Ponteil when coming from Champcella. Cross the village via theGR® 50.

(1) Leave theGR® and take a path (cairn) on the right which joins the forest track leading up to the Cabane de Tramouillon, following the stream.
Note: Each cairn on the path marks a trail that cuts across the road’s hairpin bends; this is more interesting and more pleasant.

(2) Cross the stream and climb above the hut (sheepfold) to find the Col de Tramouillon sign.

(3) Follow the path, take it and continue to the right at the junction until you reach the pass.

(4) At Col de Tramouillon (a lovely meadow with superb views), descend 50 metres to a junction.

(5) Turn left onto the correct path which winds its way up to the Cabane de Clot Lafont (signposted).

(6) At the hut, cross the grassy area to climb up the opposite side and follow the well-marked path which winds down to Pra la Peyro (signpost).

(7) Continue to the right towards Les Seyes.

(8) Turn right (south-east) onto the path leading to the Chalet du Collet junction.

(9) Follow the path to the right which climbs towards the Fontaine de Combaret; leave it on your right to reach a crossroads of paths.

(10) Take a small marked path on the left which descends steeply to join theGR®50.

(11) Take it to the right to climb back up to Le Ponteil and the car park (S/E).

The unsettled weather, with clouds clinging to the peaks, may explain why this lovely route is so quiet (we only came across four people)

A lovely hike and, best of all, the ultimate luxury: we only came across six people (including a shepherd) all day on 20 July...

We did the circular route in reverse for organisational reasons; we camped between point 6 and point 5 by a small waterhole.
The advantage of doing it in reverse is that the climb up the other side is under the trees and in the shade, and is less tedious than the other side (forest track)
There is plenty of drinking water at point 6 (at the hut).
A very beautiful hike with superb views at the pass.
I highly recommend it.
