The Col de Tramouillon circular starting from Les Faures

Park just outside the village of Les Faures (remember to park in the direction of departure to avoid risky manoeuvres if others park in the same place).

(S/E) Continue along the road heading north-west, then very quickly leave the road and take the path on the left. An easy climb will take you to the village of Les Aubergens.

(1) Cross it on the left to rejoin the unpaved road that climbs uphill. Follow this road to the Col des Combes.

(2) Take the path on the left, almost at a 180° angle, uphill. You will reach a crossroads at a place called Pra la Peyro.

(3) Turn right and continue climbing, which becomes steeper. A series of hairpin bends leads to the Serre Piarâtre plateau.

(4) Continue through the forest and then across mountain pastures on gentler slopes until you reach the vast plateau of Cabane de Clot Lafont.

(5) Leave the hut on your right and continue climbing. You will then return to the forest and the Col de Tramouillon crossroads.

(6) Turn right to quickly reach the Col de Tramouillon.

(7) Descend to the previous crossroads.

(6) Turn right to begin the long descent. Reach the Cabane de la Selle.

(8) Continue the descent and, following wide circular loops to the right, then left, then right, arrive at a crossroads at the Ruisseau de Pierrefeu stream and an old canal.

(9) Turn left 180°, descend further, then ford a stream and reach another crossroads.

(10) Turn right, cross the stream twice and you will find the Cabane du Clos des Vignes.

(11) Pass it and arrive at a carriage road. Take it and, via a series of hairpin bends, descend to reach the crossroads of the road to the hamlet of small pass.

(12) Continue left to the Seyes fountain.

(13) Continue straight ahead, then take the road on the left and you will easily return to the Faures car park (S/E).

Good hiking boots are recommended and, as is often the case at mountain passes, it can be a little cold. You can take shelter under the fir trees on the right of the pass.

(7) Col de Tramouillon: enjoy the sweeping view of the Durance valley.
