At Le Bugue, from the Tourist Office, drive towards Périgueux. After 3.5 km, leave the D710 and turn left towards Saint-Avit-de-Vialard. The starting point is 3.5 km away in the centre of the village of Saint-Avit, in the car park near the town hall.
(S/E) From the start sign for the walk, with your back to the town hall, take the tarmac road on the left towards Paunat (Route de Vialard) for 200 m. Follow the road to the first footpath.
(1) Take the dirt track on the left which joins the Chemin de Pel Chenal. Follow it to the next path junction.
(2) Turn left. After about 10 minutes on this path, turn right onto the small road (Chemin des Tilleuls). Cross the small hamlet then, at the junction with the road, go straight on along a path through the woods to rejoin the road further on.
(3) Immediately turn left onto the path that descends into the valley. The end of the descent is a little steep. Turn slightly right to skirt a field, then continue through the meadow towards the houses on the hill. You will come to the path leading to the houses at Cavialle.
(4) Head uphill. After another 10 minutes, you’ll reach the D703 (Route de Bergerac); turn right and then immediately right again onto the small road towards Saint-Avit-de-Vialard (Circular Route of Vialard). Follow it for about 1 kilometre until you reach a very gentle incline.
(5) Leave the road by turning left into the woods. Continue to the end of the path.
(6) Turn right, then take the small road on the left (Route de Bara Bahau). Go round three bends and you’ll come to a path at the third one.
(7) Turn right and head straight ahead. Continue along the path to the junction and follow the signs for Boucle de Vialard on the right. Reach Route du Camping and turn right to return to the car park (S/E).
