From Le Bugue, take the D710 towards Journiac and Périgueux. After 3 km, turn left onto the road leading to Saint-Avit-de-Valard. Ride to the town hall car park.
(S/E) With your back to the town hall and its starting sign, take the tarmac road opposite towards Saint-Alvère for about 300 m until you reach the first dirt track on the left, just past the houses.
(1) Follow this track for about 500 m until you reach the Y-junction.
(2) Turn right onto the dirt track at the signpost. After 300 m, at the Fork in the road (not shown on the map), keep right, then cross the road and continue along the track opposite to reach the access road to Fongauffier.
(3) Turn left and continue along the Route des Fieux et de la Poujelie, crossing a road as you go. Enter the forest and cross a meadow.
(4) At the end of the meadow, take the path on the right at the edge of the woods, which joins a road after the hamlet of La Clavelie.
(5) Turn right onto the road, then 50 m further on, at the signpost, continue straight ahead on the road, leaving the wooden house on your left. You will come to a Y-junction.
(6) Take the path on the left. When you reach the hamlet of Fongauffier, turn left and walk past the Lac Noir farm (where ducks are reared for foie gras) located towards the end of the path. Continue straight ahead at the next two junctions.
(7) Go straight on at the bend, leaving the road. The path runs along the bottom of the valley and then turns right. Join the road and follow it to the right towards the village. You will reach the Place de la Mairie (S/E).
