Circular Pédernec, from Kernévez Jaudy to Ménez Bré

This circular walk in the Pedernecoise countryside will take you to the summit of Ménez Bré, the highest point in Trégor at an altitude of 302 metres. At the foot of the Saint-Hervé Chapel, you will have a 360° view of the Guingamp region and the Pink Granite Coast to the Monts d'Arrée. Apart from the fairly steep climb to the summit, you will encounter no difficulty on this hike. Choose a sunny day to enjoy the most magnificent view possible.

Description of the walk

The starting point is at the end of Kernévez Jaudy: small parking area.

(S/E) Cross the hamlet and, near a chicken coop, take the gravel path on your left. Ignore the side paths and join the RD200.

(1) Turn right, then left a hundred metres further on. Shortly afterwards, at the corner of a property, look for the path leading off to the right. Follow it and you will soon come to a junction with the marked path, which will be your return route.

(2) Take the path on the left, ignore the adjacent paths and you will arrive at a tarmac road at a place called Kerambaly.

(3) Turn left to run alongside the railway line, then join the junction with another road.

(4) Turn left again, cross the railway line and pass the farm to reach a crossroads.

(5) Turn right towards Traou ar Voaz. Continue straight ahead to reach the hamlet of Kerbré.

(6) At the crossroads, turn right and then left at the last houses. At the next junction with a white road, turn left heading south. Pass a house and a little further on, at the end of a wide left-hand bend, you will see a path leading off to the right between two hedges.

(7) Take this well-marked path and continue until you reach a tarmac road further on. Follow it to the left until you reach a crossroads.

(8) Turn right, pass the houses of Toul Zabren and shortly afterwards turn right onto a path that slopes quite steeply and begins to climb. Continue, leave the dense vegetation behind and head towards the Saint-Hervé Chapel at Ménez Bré: enjoy the view.

(9) Then continue on your way towards the stele. Turn right onto the GR®34 access path. Make a round trip to the Saint-Hervé Fountain, below on the right.

(10) Retrace your steps, take the wide white path on the right and you will come to a star-shaped crossroads.

(11) Continue straight ahead along the path, which is now a little more grassy. After a house on your right, turn left onto the road to reach a larger crossroads.

(12) Turn right, ignore the road on the left further on, and before a right-hand bend, turn left to pass under the railway line. Pass the hamlet of Kersalaün Huellan.

(13) Leave the marked path, which turns left into a hedge, and stay on the tarmac road. At the crossroads, turn left and then immediately right to reach another crossroads.

(14) Continue straight ahead and join the intersection with the GR®34A variant.

(15) Turn right towards the south. Cross the hamlet of Langonneau and take the forest path that starts after the last house. You will quickly reach the crossroads of paths you passed on the way there.

(2) Turn left and follow the road towards the junction with the RD20. Turn right, cross the Jaudy and you will arrive at the junction, which you also passed on the way there.

(1) Turn left towards Le Loc. Continue, ignoring the paths on your left. When you reach the poultry farm, turn right and you will arrive back at the car park (S/E).
