The route starts at Patente, where you can park.
(S/E) Opposite the chalets, take the path leading downwards to the south-west and head for the Fontaine de Bury.
(1) Cross the stream, continue along the path opposite and do not go down. Continue to the Ganasse meadows.
(2) On leaving the forest, you’ll reach these meadows. Turn left for 50 m, then right after a striking dead tree, heading up towards Pas de Pré Bourret. Yellow/green markings. On reaching the edge of the forest, cross the large meadow straight ahead until you reach a fork.
(3) Continue along the narrower path towards Pas de Pré Bourret. At the signpost, continue left for 100 m towards Le Faz.
(4) Viewpoint over the Isère valley after Pas de Pré Bourret. Turn back towards the large meadow.
(3) With no signposting, head north-east, crossing the meadow to its far end for just under a kilometre. At the far end of the meadow, you’ll reach the cliffs.
(5) Then turn right, still heading north-east, and follow a barely marked track through the forest.
(6) Another viewpoint over Malleval and the Isère valley. Do not get too close when there is heavy snow. Continue eastwards.
(7) Beneath the Lunette cross. It is possible to climb up to the cross through the sharp limestone pavement. Watch your ankles.
It is also possible to go down to see and pass through La Lunette via a small path that drops steeply. Magnificent view of Malleval-en-Vercors.
Continue eastwards, descending towards the cliffs, which you will find further down. At the edge of the cliffs, head due south towards the Pas de pré Coquet.
(8) Among the raspberry bushes, follow the yellow/green markings towards Patente. There is a ruin on the right-hand side of the path.
Before reaching the Patente car park, continue climbing to the left towards the Belvédère, which offers a superb view of the Cirque de Malleval-en-Vercors.
(9) Return to the previous fork. Turn left and you will soon reach the car park (S/E).
