The walk starts from the Sophie Barat Spiritual Centre – Free parking.
(S/E) On leaving the centre, head left up Rue Davier, then up the steps; at the top, turn right onto the path leading to the large medieval gate opposite. Turn left onto Avenue de la Forêt d’Othe, which runs alongside the cemetery. Turn right onto Chemin de la Collinière (no entry) which climbs straight up to a tarmac road.
(1) Continue straight on, leaving the open space on your right and the airfield on your left. Continue along the D20, following the sign for “Bienvenue en Pays d’Othe”. At the end of the runway, by the wayside shrine hidden beneath an oak tree on the left (Croix d’Arnault), take the path on the left (Petit tour en Val Aubry). After 320 metres, turn right onto the path heading due north which leads into the woods.
(2) After 150 metres in the woods, at the three-way junction, take the left-hand path, which descends north-westwards. Walk 100 metres and, at the next three-way junction, take the left-hand path again. A little further on, admire the view over the Val Aubry.
(3) At the junction with a path that climbs up to the left into the woods (the Petit tour en Val Aubry), ignore it and continue straight ahead, descending along the edge of the woods.
(4) As you approach the large industrial buildings (Parc d’Activités du Paradis), turn right until you reach the tarmac road below, then left onto Rue du Paradis, running between the buildings. At number 23 on this street, turn left onto Avenue de la Côte Saint-Jacques, which leads uphill. As you begin the descent, admire the beautiful view below of Joigny, the bridge spanning the Yonne and the surrounding area.
(5) At the ‘No Entry’ sign, take Rue des Lilas on the right and continue straight ahead along the path between the trees. Continue along the narrow passageway marked at the start by a ‘No Entry’ sign. Cross the road, walk 50 metres to the left and, opposite Sainte-Thérèse School, go down the steps on the right then along Rue Davier to the Sophie Barat Centre (S/E).
