The Chamberiotte and Alouettes walk

This is a lovely, enjoyable walk where you can admire the famous passage between the D182 and point (2). The best part of this walk is the beautiful view between point (5) and point (6).

Description of the walk

Park in the car park of Saint-Léonard Church in Chamvres.

(S/E) Walk back a few metres to reach the road without crossing it. Go right for about 100 metres, then take Rue de la Résistance on the right. Ignore the next road on the right and a wide path on the left. Just after this, leave Rue de la Résistance, which branches off to the right, and take Rue des Léchères on the left until it ends.

(1) Continue straight ahead along a path; a little further on, take the path on the left which leads to the D182. Cross it with great care, then head right for 70 metres and turn left onto a path until you reach a T-junction. Head right for 30 metres to find a path on the right.

(2) Ignore this and head up to the left to reach another T-junction. Turn right and you will come to another T-junction.

(3) Turn left until you reach the next path on the right. Head up to the right, ignore the next path on the left, take the next one on the left which leads to a T-junction. Go right for 70 metres to find a path on the left beneath the high-voltage power lines.

(4) Take this path on the left, follow it shortly afterwards to the left, and after 100 metres you will reach a four-way junction (elevation 169). Continue straight on for 80 metres to reach a T-junction. Turn left until you reach a three-way junction.

(5) Ignore the path continuing straight ahead, turn right, ignore a path on the right 100 metres further on, begin the descent, pass under the high-voltage power lines, then ignore two paths on the right and one on the left, and continue to the four-way junction.

(6) Head right until you reach another four-way junction (elevation 108). Turn left for about 300 metres until you see thefirst house on the left. Just past this, take a small grassy path on the left (not shown on the IGN map) for about 20 metres, which leads onto a small road.

(7) Continue straight ahead until you reach a junction of roads and paths. First turn right then left, then head straight ahead along a wide grassy path which joins a small road again. Follow this until it leads to a T-junction. Turn right for about 20 metres to join the D 182.

(8) Follow this road to the right for 70 metres, then take Rue Chapoteau on the right, which leads to a junction. Turn left to return to the starting point (S/E).
