Bonnac walks

A lovely, easy walk through the beautiful woods above Bonnac. You can finish with a swim in the Ariège. The route is well maintained and clearly marked in yellow.

A lovely walk along the ridges of the hills, taking walkers on a journey of discovery through the Terrefort de Pamiers. This stretch of hills, with its woods and fords, offers vast panoramic views of Pamiers and the Pyrenees and, despite the sections on the road, provides a wonderful opportunity to explore the area.

A very beautiful walk, despite the route being quite close to Pamiers town centre. You’ll soon find yourself out in the countryside, joining paths at the edge of the woods before heading deeper in. You then reach, via a lovely climb, a commanding view in both directions: a view of Pamiers and its surroundings, and then a view across the Piedmont towards the Pyrenees. Quite simply marvellous. The route runs mainly along clean, unobstructed paths (bare earth without stones, which can be slippery in wet weather: two walking poles are therefore highly recommended). The sections on road (except at the end, where you must be very careful as it’s a very fast-flowing road with no pavement near the campsite) are almost like footpaths, so narrow are they and serving only a few isolated farms. All in all, a lovely discovery, as the route also runs alongside the Ariège, whose banks have recently been redeveloped.

An easy walk suitable for children: educational farm, tool museum, observatories, numerous species of migratory and sedentary birds (storks, barnacle geese). The estate is located between Calmont and Mazères on the D35. You can park at the entrance to the estate or drive to the end of the driveway and park next to the museum. The section along the motorway is only useful for getting to the observatories, but you have to go that way.

This beautiful route in the commune of Cintegabelle leads to the unique Tute de la Maine, the troglodyte dwelling of Germaine and her twelve children in the 19th century. It follows peaceful paths along the banks of the Grand Hers and through the forest, while others offer views of the Lauragais hills, the Ariège plain and the Pyrenees.
