Bois des Terriers and the heritage of Jouy-Mauvoisin

The start point is at the^GR®® trail car park opposite 9 Rue Pasteur in Buchelay.
You can also park in the church car park.

(S/E) As you leave the car park, head left towards the church and the Maison du Village.

(1) At the crossroads, continue straight ahead along Rue Pierre et Marie Curie until you reach a roundabout. Turn right onto Rue de la Forêt. At the end, go through a gate and continue along the path that extends from the street.

(2) At the first junction of paths, turn left. At the second junction, continue along the path straight ahead (north-east) and follow a fence on your left. After passing through a gate, turn into Rue des Sapins.

(3) At the junction, turn right and go through another barrier to take the small tarmac road from Buchelay to Magnanville. At the next junction, head right towards the forest.

(4) After passing through the gate at the entrance to the woods, turn right at the first fork. Continue to a junction where there is an information sign for the “Bois départemental des Terriers” and turn left. At the next junction, turn left again. Walk past a bench on your right and, at the end of the path, turn right onto a path running alongside a wall on your left. Ignore two paths branching off to the right.

(5) Just before reaching a gate, turn right onto the^GR®®26(red and white markings). Ignore the side paths to reach a crossroads where access is blocked by vertical wooden posts. Then turn left. At the T-junction that follows, turn left again.

(6) After about 450 m and just before a fork, take the^PR®® to the right at an acute angle, signposted by a directional post marked ‘Fontenay-Mauvoisin’. At a crossroads, continue straight ahead along the path that climbs.

(7) Before reaching any houses, turn right at a junction. At a crossroads, continue straight ahead. Ignore a turn-off to the right and, at the T-junction, turn right. At the second T-junction immediately ahead, turn left. At the end of the path, you’ll reach a small street.

(8) At the T-junction, turn right onto Chemin du Pavillon to join the D110. Then head left and cross over towards the town hall. Turn left onto Rue de la Fontaine, then right onto Rue de la Vallée and continue to number 22.

(9) Immediately afterwards, turn left onto the Sente des Bertins, which goes uphill (wooden sign). This is not shown on the map. Then turn right onto Rue des Bertins and right again onto Rue des Acacias, ignoring a path on the left. Continue along the path that extends from it until you reach the D110, which you should cross carefully, heading to the right. Turn into the first path on the left.

(10) At the junction, turn left onto a path that climbs. Ignore a path branching off to the left. At the crossroads, continue straight ahead (let the^GR®® head off to the right). At the fork, veer left and follow Rue Anatole France. Pass the church on your left.

(1) At the junction, turn left to join Rue Pasteur and the start (S/E).
