Around Saint-Martin-Lys
A beautiful, shaded hike in the forest of the charming village of Saint-Martin-Lys, at the foot of the River Aude. This route is well worth the detour, with a beautiful viewpoint over the Axat Valley at the start of the trail.

This easy hike takes you through the woods above Belvis, alternating between footpaths and forest roads. There are some beautiful views of the region, as well as the Barrenc de Picaussel chasm. The chasm, located at the edge of the path, is very well secured (barriers and gates prevent accidents).

Route of drystone shelters in Montazels
This hike will take you along a new route updated by a village association that is reviving forgotten paths that once allowed villagers to reach the vineyards and graze their flocks of sheep. You will discover drystone shelters that were used to shelter from the wind and bad weather and, in the case of the larger ones, to store equipment for working in the fields.
The drystone shelters trail in Couiza
Departure from Couiza and its 16th-century Château des Ducs de Joyeuse. You will wind your way along paths lined with dry stone walls and several drystone shelters, passing through the villages of Cassaignes and Coustoussa with its ruined castle.
This trail takes you to the heights of Montaut and Les Planèses, where you can admire the peaks of Pic de Bugarach, Brau and the Pyrenees.
There are alternative routes and you can start from Cassaignes or Coustoussa.
Le Pech du Bugarach from Bugarach
This is a relatively short, intense loop route at altitude, climbing Pech du Bugarach from the village via La Fenêtre.
Circular route from Puivert to Nébias
This circular route takes you past the foot of the Cathar castle at Puivert after passing through the Labyrinthe Vert, a striking geological formation.
This walk follows almost exclusively dirt tracks and presents no technical difficulties, apart from muddy sections and the need to wade across the stream during periods of heavy rain.
A user reports:the signposting between (13) and (14) no longer exists. At (13), return to theGR®7AandGR®367.I tried to find the old route but the path is blocked by a fence.
The Château des Maures and Malabrac from Caudiès de Fenouillèdes
From the village of Caudiès-de-Fenouillèdes through the forest, we will go to the spiral viaduct on the D9 and the ruins of the Château des Maures. We will pass the commemorative plaque marking the lunch stop of the Duke and Duchess of Orléans, sons of Louis-Philippe I, then head towards the abandoned hamlet of Malabrac.

Pic de l'Ourtiset
This route takes you through an exceptional site with its mountain landscapes, fauna and flora. From the summit, you can see the whole of the Pays de Sault, the Ariège and Catalan Pyrenees and, if visibility is good, the Pic de Bugarach above the Carcassonne plain and the Montagne Noire.
Tour of Donezan
This hike is best done at the end of October. If the weather is favourable, the "French Quebec" will dazzle you with its autumn colours. But there's nothing to stop you coming back in spring or summer. There are some beautiful views of the plateau and its villages: Rouze, Mijanes, Artigues, Le Pla, Le Puch, Quérigut and the peaks overlooking Donezan. The first half of the route follows the Vauban trail.
