At the foot of the Aiguilles d'Arves - Basse du Gerbier
A superb hike in a magnificent setting at the foot of the Aiguilles d'Arves. The coolness of the torrent, the landscape ravaged by erosion, flower-filled mountain pastures, the whistling of marmots and shy chamois complete the picture.
A comfortable walk has been created passing through (1) and (2).
Ascent beneath the Aiguilles d'Arves
Close to the Aiguilles d'Arves, starting from the Relais 1900 above Chalmieu (Montrond), there is a climb to reach a point slightly above Basse du Gerbier. The climb is beautiful and requires some effort to warm up.
The descent can be made via the same route or via the Gros Crey and Bon Ventre ridges (caution: tricky section), which is longer and more exposed.

Refuge des Mouterres - La Grave
Stage7 of this route. One of the most beautiful stages of this tour of the Écrins National Park. After making the most of the welcome at the Refuge des Mouterres and a campsite with an extraordinary view, you will discover the unspoilt nature of the Emparis Plateau, a Natura 2000 site with abundant mountain flora.
You will leave theGR® 54C for a detour across the Emparis Plateau and its three lakes, Cristallin, Noir and Lérié, before descending to La Grave.

From the Col du Lautaret to the Alpe de Villard d'Arène
Stage1 of the Tour du Combeynot: From the Col du Lautaret to the Alpe de Villar-d'Arêne refuge via the schistose crevasse trail overlooking the Romanche valley. Unique view of the Écrins and Meije peaks.
Lac des Cerces - Lacs de la Madeleine via Pointe des Cerces
Day 2 in the Clarée Valley: ascent of Pointe des Cerces (unmarked mountain route), passage to Lac and Source de la Clarée and climb to the second bivouac at Lacs de la Madeleine (off-trail on the final section).
As with the other parts of this circular, this route is intended for experienced hikers who are accustomed to high mountains.
Refuge de Terre Rouge - Le Prec
This is the last stage of this three-day route, with one last beautiful climb. A final alpine pass, a few lakes, and the return via the Fenêtre du Prec to round off this lovely Tour du Thabor.
Lacs de la Madeleine - Lac Lavoir via Mont Thabor
Third day of the circular with ascent of Mont Thabor (highest point of the route) via the oldGR® trail along the Roche du Chardonnet ridge and the Valmeinier Glacier, which presents certain difficulties compared to the newGR® route.
As with the other days of the circular, this route is intended for very experienced hikers who are accustomed to high mountains.
From Alpe de Villard-d'Arène to Monêtier-les-Bains
Stage2 of the Tour du Combeynot: From the Romanche to the Guisane Valley via the Col d'Arsine, this stage takes place at the foot of the Agneaux
Alpe de Villar d'Arêne Mountain Hut - Monêtier-les-Bains
Stage9 of this route links the Refuge de l’Alpe de Villar-d’Arêne to Monêtier-les-Bains, taking a short detour to the Lac du Glacier d’Arsine, surrounded by the Pics de Chamoissière, d’Arsine, de Neige Cordier, the Pointe Cézanne and the Montagne des Agneaux. Unfortunately, the Arsine Glacier is suffering from global warming. The section starting from the pass along the Petit Tabuc stream in the valley, known as the Réou d'Arsine, is magnificent and very wild.
Lodge de l'Emparis - Refuge des Mouterres
Another magical stage, thanks to the breathtaking scenery all along the balcony trail above Lac du Chambon, including a stop at the ‘petrifying’ spring. Opposite lies a long mountain range and majestic glaciers, with famous names: the Girose Glacier, Pic de la Grave, Le Râteau and the majestic Meije. You will finish this stage at the start of the Emparis plateau at the Refuge des Mouterres, one of the most beautiful camping spots with an exceptional view of the Meije.
