Description der Wandertour

Start: Whitehaven Harbour, Tangier Street bus stop (CA28 7XE) Grid ref. NX 974 184

(S) From the bus stop, walk along North Shore road to reach the harbour. On the harbour take left (South-West) and walk with the harbour on your right-hand side, in the direction of the Beacon Museum. Pass the museum.

(1) After 90m, go directly left (using the stairs or the larger path a bit further in the direction of the lighthouse) to go up towards the England Coast Path.

(2) Once on the large path (England Coast Path) continue straight following the edge of the cliffs. The path will become smaller and smaller and will go across fields until arriving at an intersection of paths with a rock on your left-hand side. Continue straight on the path going up, then bend left.

(3) After 2.6 Km or so, turn right (South-West) at the intersection of paths to find again the England Coast Path. Continue straight until reaching a quarry.

(4) Pass the quarry (should be on your left-hand side, with the path between the quarry and the cliffs) and continue straight across several fields for 2.4 Km until reaching St Bees Lighthouse.

(5) At the lighthouse, continue straight on the path (South) following the cliffs until the path bends left and goes down towards Fleswick beach (1.2 Km).

(6) Continue on the path towards Fleswick beach. The path will go down and then up again (it is possible to leave the path at the level of the small river to go down to the beach). After passing Fleswick continue straight on the England Coast Path until reaching St Bees beach (2.5 Km) (E)
