(S/E) From the Intermarché car park (Avenue de l’Europe-Laxou), turn your back on the shop and, on Avenue de l’Europe, head left (stay on the left-hand pavement) and walk past the “Ville d’Avray” bus stop until you reach a junction with Impasse Printemps-Automne.
(1) Walk a few steps to the right until you reach the entrance to the footpath, then turn left and follow it. Cross Boulevard des Aiguillettes (be careful! It’s a busy road) and continue straight ahead to the Marie-Marvingt roundabout.
Head straight ahead onto Chemin d’Hardeval (marked “Impasse”) then continue along the path through the woods (follow the FFRP signpost). Keep going straight on along this path until you reach a low wall on your left.
(2) At the very end of the low wall, turn left (yellow arrow) onto the path leading downhill (be careful! It can be slippery – don’t let the view distract you).
As you enter the forest, head down 10 metres to the left; in my opinion, this is the best place to cross the stream, the Ruisseau de l’Asnée. Then turn left, go up the steps and follow the stream on your right. A little further on, go down another flight of steps and turn left, continuing to follow the stream. Then walk past the houses on your right (the path narrows here, near the RTE building).
At the end of the path, turn right (Rue de Versigny), then at the top, turn right again onto Rue Chopin. Right at the end, you’ll reach the wash house (why not take the opportunity to cool off!).
(3) Head left downhill and take the cul-de-sac (be careful! In July 2016, part of the road had subsided). Turn left onto Rue de Laxou (a winding street), which further on becomes Rue de Villers, until you reach the Collège Victor Prouvé.
Walk alongside it and, at the end, at the pedestrian crossing, cross the road and take the footpath on the right to cross Boulevard des Aiguillettes again. Turn left before the ‘all directions’ sign, then take the Printemps-Automne cul-de-sac on your right. You’ll come out at the end of Avenue de l’Europe.
(1) Turn left and cross Rue de Maréville. Just after this, you should see a small sign for “Jardin des 1000 fleurs”. Take the path on the left and follow the avenue along the grassy path, between the trees. Further on, take the second path on the right (signposted ‘Saint-Arriant’) and continue along this path as it bends to the left. After the bend to the right, turn left onto the Sentier de Baoum to join the Sentier des Remparts. Turn right to reach Rue Édouard Grosjean. Turn right onto this street, then, immediately afterwards, turn left at the pedestrian crossing onto the Sentier de la Fontenelle. Continue along this path; shortly afterwards, it bends to the right.
You’ll come out onto Rue de la Fontenelle. Turn left and walk up the street until you reach a wash house on your right.
(4) Once you’ve passed the washhouse, turn right onto the Sentier des Clos, which bends to the right a little further on. Continue down this path, then turn left onto Rue des Clos. Turn right and walk down the street. At the end, take the Allée des Mirabelles opposite, slightly to the left, and continue along this lane, which bends to the right shortly afterwards. Once at the bottom, if the square in front of you is open, go in to see “les Yeux d’Ève”. Otherwise, turn right, which will take you straight onto Rue de l’Abbé Didelot. Head left and go right to the end of this street. Cross Rue de Maréville to reach Avenue de l’Europe.
(1) Turn left and head for the Intermarché car park (S/E).
