Around Fressies

Park on Rue du Faubourg, opposite the church in Fressies.

(S/E) Head towards the church, then turn right at the crossroads onto Rue de l'Église. At the chapel, keep right, then turn right onto Grande Rue. At the intersection with Rue de l'Épinette, turn left and follow this road until you reach the railway line.

(1) At the crossroads with Rue de l'Épinette, take the path on the right, just after the last house. Follow the railway line to the next crossroads. Turn right and cross the railway line. Continue to the D71.

(2) Turn left and walk along the edge of the road, taking care as it is busy. At the entrance to Aubencheul-au-bac, continue on the right-hand pavement of Rue de Fressies and ignore the street on the right.

(3) Turn right onto Rue de Fressies, ignore the street on your left and, at the intersection with Place de l'Église, continue straight ahead on the pedestrian path to the left of the tree. Join the D 643.

(4) Turn right and, at the junction with Rue Léo Lagrange (dead end), go straight ahead. Then turn onto the path on the right to reach the canal.

(5) Turn right onto Allée de la Petite Sensée (Fressies). Go under the first bridge, then the second and finally under a footbridge. Walk for a good hundred metres.

(6) Turn right, taking a hairpin bend, into Impasse des Mouettes. At the intersection with Rue du Général de Gaulle, turn right and continue on your left (church on your right) onto Rue des Acacias. Ignore Rue des Violettes on your left.

(7) Immediately after, turn left onto Rue Pasteur and, at the Sentier du Stade crossroads, turn right. Pass in front of the small stadium and, at the intersection, continue straight ahead.

(8) Turn right towards Résidence des Coquelicots, ignoring Rue des Lilas on your right. Follow the pavement on the right and, in the bend, continue straight ahead then, at the end, turn left onto Canal de la Sensée.

(9) At the intersection with Rue de la Sensée (D 402), turn left and stay on the edge of the road, taking care. Then follow the road to the right and, at the intersection with Champ des Longues Raies, turn right, then left to join the D71.

(10) Turn left, ignoring the road on your left. At the corner of the cemetery, turn right onto Rue des Marais, ignore the alley on your left, then turn left, staying on Rue du Marais. Continue straight ahead on Rue d'Héronville.

(11) At the intersection with Allée des Jardiniers, after house no. 350, turn left, then left again at the corner of no. 53. At the crossroads with Ruelle de l'Église, turn right and you will arrive at the crossroads with Rue du Bac. Return to the car park opposite, on Rue du Faubourg (S/E).

The route is easy but not signposted. The terrain is earth, grass, stones and tarmac. Wear suitable footwear.
