Parking after the bridge over the Prat Sauvage stream on leaving Rieutord via the D536
(S/E) From the car park, head south-west, following the road for about 200 m.
(1) At the last house, just after leaving the village, take theGR® on the left which begins the climb beneath the knoll of Bauzon.
(2) At the junction with theGR®7, take the alternative route to the right. Cross the Bois des Tialades, pass under a high-voltage power line and reach a crossroads.
(3) Turn left towards the south, following a gentle descent to a five-way junction.
(4) Take theGR®7to the left towards the east. Pass close to Lac Ferrand, sadly fenced off by multiple rows of barbed wire. Ignore the paths branching off to the left towards the north. After a right-hand bend to the south, theGR®7leads to the D536 at Pont de Fontaulière.
(5) At the bridge, take the small road heading south; this is now theGR®73.
Pass through the hamlet of Le Pal, with its pretty wash house, a water source. After the hamlet, you’ll reach the Croix du Pal crossroads.
(6) Turn left and stay on thisGR® which goes round the knoll of the Pal. After a climb heading north-east and the crossroads at elevation 1309, it descends northwards to reach the large crossroads at Les Oulettes.
(7) Turn right, then immediately left towards the north and the Croix de Moïse.
(8) At a place called La Croix de Moïse (where I didn’t see a cross), turn left heading due west to join theGR®7until a fork with an alternative route a few hundred metres further on.
(9) The flat path drops sharply to the right to reach the dead end of a small road leading to Rieutord.
(10) Follow it to the right, following the pretty Prat Sauvage stream-torrent, to the car park (S/E).
