Start: car park near the crêperie at Moulin du Pont, on the Quimper–Bénodet road.
(S/E) Follow the roadside towards the roundabout in the direction of Quimper. Go round this roundabout on the left to reach Anse de Saint-Cadou.
Turn left and follow this wide path westwards. You will keep the river branch on your right-hand side.
(1) Just after a signposted path branches off to the left, turn right to follow a track that runs closer to the river. This track forms a circular route and offers an unobstructed view of Penfrat Castle (private property; not open to the public).
(2) Rejoin the path you left earlier at a very old oak tree and continue to the left, ignoring a path leading to the château. Walk past the château entrance and take a path on the right, into the woods, which runs parallel to the track.
(3) Follow this path whilst staying at the edge of the woods.
(4) Leave the woods on the left and immediately turn right onto the small road that runs alongside a riding centre.
(5) At the next junction, turn right to reach the Saint-Cadou Chapel and its remarkable site. Retrace your steps.
(5) Carry on straight ahead until the next junction, where you turn right.
(6) Carry on for about a hundred metres, take the signposted path branching off to the left and follow it until you reach a road. Cross the road and continue straight ahead. At a place called Botdrez, turn right and follow this path which runs alongside fields and wooded areas.
(7) When you reach the Pors Meillou road, turn right and head down this road. Take a detour to the right to see the Notre-Dame-du Vray Secours Chapel, then rejoin the small road that descends to the Pors Meillou slipway on the banks of the Odet. On your left is the Boutiguéry estate (open to visitors on Sunday afternoons).
(8) Walk back up the road a little way, then take the small bridge on the left which crosses the stream, and continue along the path that climbs gradually to reach the hamlet of Ty Guen, which we passed on the way out.
(6). Carry on along the same road as on the way there, turning left.
(5) Turn right (do not head back towards the Saint-Cadou Chapel). Pass Penfrat and the riding centre.
(4) Turn left into the woods (marker for the long circular alternative route) and follow the yellow markings, which take you on a clockwise route through the woods.
(10) Reach the edge of the cove, from where you can see Toulven Castle on the opposite bank. Follow the markings carefully as you walk along the edge of the cove.
(9) Head back up the diagonal path to leave the woods and rejoin the road.
(3) Follow the road to the left, pass the château and continue along the path you took on the way out. Ignore the first road on the right and take the next one.
(11) Walk through the Pont housing estate and turn left to return to the starting point (S/E).
