From Le Petit-Bornand-les-Glières, take the Route de Cenise. Please note that the road is narrow and steep towards the end. At certain points, cars cannot pass each other, so motorhomes are not recommended. There are two other car parks available before the refuge if needed.
(S/E) From one of these car parks, continue along the small road towards the Refuge de Cenise.
(1) At the refuge, continue along the track towards the south-east. After 200 m, leave the track and continue straight ahead with the Pic de Jallouvre in your sights.
(2) Leave the houses on your right and continue straight ahead. The path will veer slightly to the left, then make a sharp turn to the right along a cliff. At Passage de la Chèvre, you will cross a small, slippery sharp limestone pavement passage, so be careful!
Pass east of Pointe de Sosay, where the path becomes less steep.
(3) Leave the path to the left (leading to the Col du Rasoir) and turn right towards the Col de Sosay. Follow the red paint markings through the sharp limestone pavement. Then cross a scree slope. Be careful, there may be snowfields until May/June. You will soon reach the Col de Sosay.
(4) You will see Lac de Lessy, your next destination, and just behind it, the Aiguille Verte. Begin the descent towards the lake in front of you. It is not difficult and you will arrive at the Chalets de Lessy.
(5) Depending on the season, you may find refreshments available. Take the path on the left that descends towards the lake, then continue on the path that climbs up to the Col de l'Arête pass to the south.
(6) At the pass, take the path on the right that climbs westwards, continuing straight ahead along the ridge.
(7) Veer left along the slope and reach the path that climbs up the opposite shoulder. Make a final right turn and climb a steeper slope to reach the summit of Aiguille Verte. After passing a short challenging section where you will need to use your hands, you will reach Pointe de Domingit a few metres further on.
(8) The return journey follows the same route as the outward journey (S/E).
