Snowshoe trail no. 2
(S/E) From the Le Grand Échaillon signpost (altitude 1,162 m), take the groomed trail that runs horizontally behind the Auberge du Grand Échaillon. Follow the markings to reach a field. Turn right and follow the edge of the woods. The route goes around the fields following the edge of the forest and turns back 180° to reach the Bergerie du Grand Échaillon.
(1) Take a passageway in the fence, follow the trail to the left and reach the Bergerie du Grand Échaillon. Take the trail on the right, which climbs gently at first and then steeply, to reach a magnificent viewpoint on the edge of the ridge after a few efforts. Continue until you reach the Pas de Chovet.
(2) Turn left at a 90° angle and descend to reach a wide, groomed track. Start climbing back up, following the markings to the crossroads where you will find a signpost.
(3) Turn left. The route then winds its way across a pleasant little plateau before reaching a track after 1.5km. Follow it uphill to the signpost.
(4) Turn left below the track onto a small trail that descends into the undergrowth. You will reach a large groomed track. Follow it downhill, pass the hamlet of Pissenible and arrive at a crossroads.
(5) Take the first track on the right, which leads into the forest. Join another track. Turn left and walk back to the Grand Échaillon cross-country ski centre (S/E).
