Dent by Nannycatch

Start: Longlands lake car park, Cleator Moor. (CA23 3AD) grid ref. NY 012 129

(S/E) From the car park, walk toward the lake, cross the bridge and turn left just after the bridge to take the footpath following River Ehen. Continue on this footpath until reaching a farm track. Turn right on that farm track and continue straight until reaching Black How farm. Cross the farm then take left on the road.

(1) After a couple of meters turn right on the forestry path going up (Navigation is needed here as the path is not really visible). Keep on the Coast to Coast path crossing the forest (South-East) and the field going up to Dent summit.

(2) At the summit, walk down (South-East) until reaching an intersection of paths. Take right (South-West) then go straight down and continue on this path until the end of the forest and reaching Kirk Beck.

(3) Take left (North-East) and then left again on the smaller path to follow Kirk Beck on your left-hand side. Continue on this path following Kirk Beck until reaching Nannycatch Gate.

(4) At Nannycatch Gate, turn right (North-East) on the footpath. Continue on this path following Nannycatch Beck until reaching an intersection of paths.

(5) Take left (North) and continue on this path (ignoring all the sides paths) until reaching a main track.

(6) Turn right and continue on the road going to the main road.

(7) Turn left then left again (before the bridge) and continue on the road until Black How farm.

(1) Take right to cross the farm and walk back to the car park using the same path taken previously. (S/E)
