Description der Wandertour

Start : Sandwith, (CA28 9UH), from the little car park at the intersection of Main street with the road going to Tarnflatt Hall. Grid ref. NX 963 147

(S/E) From the car park, take the direction of the main road and then at the little grassy square take right (South-West) in the direction of Rottington. Continue on this road for around 500m. At the intersection of roads take right (West) (leaving Rottington road on the left).

(1) Follow that little road that is going up until the road becomes a path. Pass the farm (on the right) and continue straight on the path until reaching a concrete road.

(2) Take left (South-West) on the concrete road, still going up until seeing a fenced area on your left hand side.

(3) Just after the fenced area, leave the concrete road and take left (South-East) on the path (Hannahmoor lane) with fields on both sides. Continue straight on this path for around 1.5 Km passing some gates and ladders. At the end of one of the field the path goes down (with a fence on your left hand side). Go down across fields until seeing a little ladder on your left hand side.

(4) Pass the ladder, then continue going down until reaching the England Coast path and seeing a wooden gate on your right hand side. At the gate take right (North) to go in the direction of Fleswick bay. Continue on this path following the edge of the cliff. (You will have to leave the England Coast Path to go on Fleswick Bay beach). Continue straight on the England Coast Path for around 4 Km (passing St Bees lighthouse).

(5) At the quarry, leave the England Coast path to take right (South-East) on the road going to Sandwith. Continue straight on this road until reaching another road. At the intersection of roads take left (East) to go down to Sandwith and the car park (S/E)

We did this walk on a windy day in spring, it was exhilarating to say the least. Very much enjoyed the beach. Parts of the coastal path were very muddy and quite strenuous a great walk and the dogs loved it! 😍 🐕‍🦺🦮🐕
