Welkenraedt walks

A very beautiful walk in the Pays de Herve, offering lovely views over the Val de la Berwinne and the Aubel region. The route, mainly through wooded countryside, passes by the American memorial and the Henri-Chapelle golf course.

This TOTEMUS hunt, called "La balade des trois vallées" (The Three Valleys Walk), follows the route of the marked "Promenade des Panoramas" walk, marked with a blue diamond, from the Maison du Tourisme du Pays de Herve.It is a beautiful discovery, taking you through streets and country lanes to little-known places on the edge of the golf course.

Limbourg dominates the region from its rocky outcrop. In this ancient fortress, it is pleasant to stroll through the streets and around Place Saint-Georges. With its preserved charm inherited from the Middle Ages, exceptional monuments and splendid views of the surrounding area, it is truly a rare gem in Wallonia!

Between Limbourg and Goé, the small hamlet of Hèvremont marks the entrance to the wood of the same name. It will appeal to lovers of old buildings as well as walkers, who will enjoy the wooded surroundings and the view over the Bovegnée valley. In the past, the inhabitants of Hèvremont, mostly farmers, spinners or weavers, were parishioners of Goé.

This fairly long and adjustable hike, measuring approximately 40 km, will take you along numerous small paths and allow you to discover some of the monuments of the Herve region and its surroundings. You will begin your adventure in the peaceful little village of Chaineux, then take a small rural path via Manaihant to the Xénemont mill (please note that the tunnel crossing the motorway may be closed). You will then pass through the town of Herve, where you will discover a farmhouse ice cream parlour. Head towards line 38 (an old railway line) towards a slag heap in Soumagne (an old coal mining area). Continue your journey through the small village of Melen and its woods and pass in front of Bolland Castle. You can decide to climb up to see the Charneux cross or follow the main road towards Battice to return to Chaineux via the meadows.

This route takes you from the German-speaking region of the Eastern Cantons in Eupen to the Flemish region of the Voer in Remerdael, following a mainly rural route with plenty of paths and tracks that sometimes hold a few surprises in store. I’ll leave you to discover them for yourselves as you explore these paths that I’ve enjoyed so much.

A beautiful circular route starting from the lovely village of Aubel, taking you through meadows, idyllic paths and wooded areas, passing close to the Berwinne. On a sunny day, take in these magnificent landscapes. A route that won’t disappoint.

The hike starts at the Collège Notre-Dame in Gemmenich. This is a very beautiful hike that alternates between small roads, forest paths and trails along streams, with magnificent views of the Moresnet viaduct.

At the edge of the Hertogenwald Forest, the path takes you through fields and woods to the wetlands of the Hoëgne and then to the village of Surister, where you can discover the Château de la Louveterie between the waters of the Borchène and the Ruisseau de Sècheval.

A lovely circular route starting from Gemmenich, offering a chance to discover varied landscapes including forest paths, small country lanes and the railway heritage of the Moresnet area. The walk crosses the woods between Gemmenich and La Calamine, passing notably through the Red Cross forest junction, then descends towards Buschhausen and Moresnet, following the old railway infrastructure in places. The return leg offers a different perspective on the region, passing through Marveld, Rodbusch and the Gemmenich countryside. A varied and pleasant route that alternates between wooded sections, footpaths, small roads and views of the rolling countryside of the Three Borders region.

In the Pays de Herve, known for its hedgerows and livestock farming, Aubel is the land of syrup made from apples, pears and, in some cases, sugar beet... a real treat for many enthusiasts. The Fourons, which became a Limburg enclave after the political and linguistic disputes between Flemish and Walloons ended in the late 20th century, offer the same type of rolling countryside, but with a little more woodland. The region is also renowned, like the English countryside, for its countless country lanes, cattle grids, turnstiles and gates that prevent livestock from escaping onto the roads, into fields or into neighbours' pastures. Hikers will discover monumental churches as well as countless crosses, chapels and shrines.

3, 2, 1... let's go! Put on your trainers, grab your map and set off on a walk! Look up: along the route, you may be surprised by some small details. 3km circular walk (to be repeated for verification), accessible to all. A short walk for this27th stage, but one packed with beautiful sights: buildings, panoramic views and landscapes. A stage where you really get a feel for what a steep climb or descent is like. They aren’t long, but your quadriceps will certainly feel the strain. It’s also a stage that gives pride of place to country lanes and footpaths.

A few kilometres from the tri-border point (Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands), the walk winds its way through wooded countryside, streams and sunken lanes. It benefits from a microclimate that shields the area from the north winds. Old farms and mills will delight you as you explore.

A route starting from the village of Herbiester, mainly through beautiful forests with ever-changing scenery, descending towards the Gileppe to the far end of the lake at the dam of the same name, and then back up to the village.A significant part of the route follows small tarmac roads: between the waypoints (S/E) at (2) and (4) to (6), plus the short return to the village.
