Valuéjols - Saint-Flour

(S) From the Valuéjols visitor centre, join the D134 (Rue des Estives) and follow it to the left until you reach the village of Valuéjols (fountain).

(1) Turn right and head south on Rue de l'Aubrac (D34). Take the first left, Rue du Puits Bonnefont. Continue straight ahead until the junction with the D14 and D16 roads.

(2) Follow the D16 to the right. At the fork (cross), turn onto the small road on the left. Cross the hamlet of Nouvialou and, at the crossroads (elevation 1012), go straight ahead.

(3) After about 300 m, take a wide path on the right. Follow the main path marked GR® and GRP® and ignore all the side paths (information signs about the wetland you are crossing).

(4) You will come to the D216; follow it to the left. Ignore the other roads on the left and cross the village of Liozargues.

(5) After No. 4 and before a fork, turn right onto Rue du Villageou and cross the bridge over a stream. At the power line, turn left onto a path.

(6) At the end, turn left and go downhill. Cross the stream again and go uphill to the D216.

(7) Follow this road to the right, cross the bridge over another stream and continue along the road for about 200 m.

(8) Leave the road and turn left at the hairpin bend onto an uphill path. Join the D926 and follow it for about 250 m.

(9) Take an underpass to cross the road safely. On the other side, turn left and then right to enter the hamlet of Mons. Take the first left.

(10) At the crossroads, take the second left towards a water tower. Pass at the foot of the tower and you will immediately reach an intersection.

(11) Turn right onto a track and head east. At a crossroads (elevation 961), go straight ahead. Shortly afterwards, go downhill, turn right and then left onto the marked path.

(12) At an intersection, turn left. Ignore a turn-off on the right, then turn right onto the main road. Descend into a wood, heading north-east. Cross a railway line via a footbridge and you will reach the D40.

(13) Follow the road to the right and you will quickly reach an intersection before a bridge.

(14) Then turn left. At the fork that appears immediately, keep left and follow the castle car park.

(15) At the next intersection, keep right and follow a signposted path towards the Babory Waterfall. Leave the castle on your left and continue straight ahead to the lake and then to the waterfall.

(16) Return by the same route to the junction before the bridge.

(14) Turn left and cross the river. Ignore a street on the left, then one on the right, and continue along the road.

(17) At a fork, turn left and follow the D340 towards Andelat. Drive past the cemetery on your left, then enter the village. Leave the town hall on your left and continue straight ahead until you reach a crossroads at the foot of the church.

(18) Then turn right and immediately take the first left, heading east, onto Chemin de Rasa Grande. Soon turn east-southeast and descend. Cross a stream (the Rase Grande) and, after about 300 m, you will reach an intersection.

(19) Then turn right (south). Further on, take the bridge over the D926 and head south-east. (Saint-Flour bypass connecting the D926 and the D679.

(20) At the T-junction, turn right. At the fork, keep right. Then take the first left and cross the D679 with caution . Continue straight ahead on Rue Meyrevielle and ignore a turning on the right immediately after.

(21) When the street turns left, turn right onto a stony path. Follow the Ander river at a distance on your right until you reach the Moulin de Massalès.

(22) Turn right and take the bridge over the Ander. On the other side, turn left between the river and a railway line. Cross the railway line at the level crossing and follow it on your left. Then turn right and ignore a small road on the left.

(23) Just after the hamlet of Les Riagous, at the end of the right-hand bend, leave the road and take a path on the left. Follow a housing estate on your right, then follow the Route du Lotissement des Cèdres Bleus as it continues.

(24) At the T-junction, follow Rue Blaise Pascal to the right. At the crossroads, go straight ahead and leave Collège Blaise Pascal on your right. At the end, go around the roundabout on the right, cross Avenue de la Fontlong, then Rue Marcellin Boudet and take the next right to return to the Allées Georges Pompidou car park (E).
