From Barcelonnette, drive up the Bachelard valley and its impressive gorges and leave your car at the hamlet of Les Longs, shortly after Fours Saint-Laurent.
Park on a small lay-by on the right-hand side of the road, 50 m before the Julien bridge and near the start of a track going up to the left with a wooden hut in the bend.
(S/E) Take the track going up to the left of the D902 (small sign indicating "Les Longs" and "Les Godets") and follow it through the hamlet.
(1) Climb up to the right, following the path for a little over 200 metres.
(2) Take the narrow path on the right that zigzags upwards. Be careful, there is no sign indicating the start of this path, so be careful not to miss it. It is quite discreet but clearly visible on the right as you climb. Stay on this path, which will guide you throughout the walk. There are no forks in the path, so there are no orientation problems.
(3) Arrive at the hut. There is a spring on the right about 200 metres away at the edge of the ravine.
(4) A stream and a small waterfall mark the end of this outward journey.
It is possible to continue the walk to a small pass at 2,758 metres.
To return, simply turn around and follow the same path back to your car (S/E).
