Park at the bridge over the Bourne near the wood chip factory, or a little further on at the cheese cooperative car park.
(S/E) Join the Via Vercors by crossing this bridge, then turn right to start following this route. You will reach the Jarrands crossroads.
(1) Follow the Via Vercors signs to cross the crossroads and then the Méaudret. Reach the houses of Bas Méaudret. Continue along the Via Vercors, which alternates between one side and the other of the Méaudret, over pontoons and hills. Walk along the Méaudret Gorges. Reach the exit of the gorges. Cross the Méaudret to reach the hamlet of Le Coin.
(2) Turn right again onto the yellow-green marked trail, veering almost 180° to follow a path that is almost parallel to the one you took on the way there. Continue first through a clearing, then into the woods and on to the three-way junction.
(3) Here you have two options:
- keep left to continue.
- Turn right to quickly reach Serge's Cabin.
(4) Turn around to return to the crossroads.
(3) Continue to the right, cross the stream and the Combe de la Cochette, and continue climbing to reach the high point below the summit of Meillarot via a forest road.
(5) Leave the forest road and follow the path on the left to begin the descent. Cross a forest road twice in succession, then continue downhill to reach the hamlet of La Bonnetière.
(6) Take the tarmac road on the left to Bréduire at the junction with the D531.
(7) Cross this road with great caution as traffic is very heavy. Continue straight ahead to reach the hamlet of Les Ravix. Turn right and rejoin the Via Vercors by taking the tree-lined path along the river. Continue along the left bank of the Bourne to return to the car park (S/E).
Beautiful hike. The first part of the route is very popular with mountain bikers on both sides. From point two onwards, the difficulties begin because the path is not visible due to lack of traffic; you have to guess where it is. In the forest, after the steep climb, the path is very cluttered with trees across it. In my opinion, this route is not frequented by hikers at this time of year. The path is not maintained at all and is poorly signposted, as there is no one on this route.
