A circular to the west of Saint-Laurent-d'Andenay

Park in the car park on Place du 8 Mai 1945, near the town hall and the village hall.

(S/E) Turn left onto the Route de Saint-Gengoux, walk along the cemetery and turn left at the next crossroads towards "Les Quarts". Continue straight on, passing under the TGV bridge. You will reach a crossroads after the bridge.

(1) Continue straight ahead and immediately turn left onto Chemin de Saint-Laurent à Montsarin. Follow this road to the end, enjoying the view of the Galoche bridge over the TGV line. At the junction with the D 977, cross the road to reach the crossroads at the hamlet of La Galoche.

(2) Take the road on the right towards Dieulegard and follow it to the Croix de la Boiteuse.

(3) Take the path on the right to reach the hamlet of Le Brûlard and join the D977.

(4) Cross the D977 and head north towards Saint-Leu. Before arriving in this hamlet, you will pass La Mouille au Pommier. In Saint-Leu, pass between a large old house and a modern house, separated by several centuries. Continue along this road until the next junction.

(5) Turn opposite towards Jean du Blé and immediately left onto the path, which you follow bend after bend between beautiful oak trees. Pass under the power lines before reaching the edge of the Étang de Montchanin.

(6) Here you have two options:
- cross the bridge to reach the Pont Jeanne Rose crossroads,
- or start your tour of the lake (as shown on the map) by turning left onto the path that is closed to motor vehicles. Please note, however, that this path may be flooded after a long period of rain. Walk along the lake to the bank separating the lake and the Canal du Centre.

(7) Turn right onto this bank, also known as the Allée des Soupirs, and continue along it until you reach the Pont Jeanne Rose crossroads.

(8) Take the road on the right and follow it for several hundred metres, taking care to watch out for traffic. Join the passage under the TGV line.

(9) Do not take this passage, but turn right towards Jean du Blé. Quickly take the path on the left opposite an old railway station on the line between Montchanin and Saint-Gengoux. Follow Rue Yvette to the end, which joins the initial crossroads.

(1) Turn left and, following the same route as on the way there, return to the car park at Place du 8 mai 1945 (S/E).

(2) At La Galoche: you are on:
- the Mediterranean-Atlantic watershed,
- the La Galoche World War^II demarcation line,
- and near a memorial stone.

(Between 7 and 8) On the other side of the canal, you will also walk alongside the RCEA (Centre-Europe Atlantique road, northern branch) and the buildings of the former Schneider factory in Montchanin, which now houses several businesses.
