You can park in the small car park on the right after Pont Jeanne Rose when coming from Montchanin, which is the starting point for this hike.
(S/E) Take the path between the Montchanin Pond and the Canal du Centre (Allée des Soupirs) and follow this path until you reach the junction with the D28
(1) Cross this road and turn right to cross the canal, then take the first road on the left. Do not take the RCEA (Route Centre Europe Atlantique), but continue on the D974 towards the Pont des Morands. Continue along the canal until you reach the first lock.
(2) At this lock (Écluse 1 de l'Océan), cross the canal on either side of it to reach the path behind the old lock keeper's house and follow it along the Fiotte stream or canal. Continue along this path, which will veer away from the canal but continue along the stream, until you reach the junction with the D977.
(3) Cross this road to reach the path that will take you to the dam. You can take some time on the dam, you will need to cross it either at the bottom or at the top to get a view of the pond and then take the path on the left.
From there, follow the path along the pond; it is sometimes wide, sometimes narrower and at one point has wooden decking. Continue along this path until you reach the D464.
(4) Take this road on the left to cross the dyke between the two ponds a little further on. After the dyke, continue along this road until you reach the three-way junction, turn right onto Rue Creuse (which is a no-entry road for vehicles) and go up to the Chalon road.
(5) Cross Route de Chalon and the car park, take the street on the left and continue to the three-way junction between Rue des Parriauds and Chemin des Cuisiniers in Écuisses.
(6) Take this path on the right and follow it until you reach a small road connecting the village of Saint Laurent d'Andenay to Les Quarts, then turn right towards the village. Pass the hamlet of Le Bon Enfant and continue for about 200 metres.
(7) At the Sain-Leu, Jean du Blé crossroads, turn left and follow this road for 30 metres, then take the Chemin du Pont Jeanne Rose on the left in Saint-Leu. Follow this road until you reach the next road, where you turn right and you will almost be back at the starting point (S/E).
